Gemini Full Moon

Gemini Full Moon 11 Gemini 40’, December 4, 2017, 1.46am (ADST Australia East Coast Daylight Saving Time)

Under the Gemini Moon, your curiosity is aroused. Maybe. Your desire to know more stuff is heightened. Maybe.  Your thirst for information is stimulated. Maybe.

Or maybe you’re collecting data and asking questions as some sort of analysis paralysis. We do that. Instead of trusting the process and having faith in the future, we continue to ask questions, look for more supporting data, more answers – anything to put off the moment when we need to move forward, beyond the boundaries of our comfort zone. Hmmmmm.

Or maybe you’ve not been asking enough questions, listening through the white noise to the snippets hidden beneath. You see, quite often we think we know it all. You know how it goes: been there, done that, bought the t-shirt. We can fall into the mistake of knowing it all – or thinking that we know it all and happy to tell anyone else who’ll listen that we know it all.

Anyways, once we think we know it all, we can fall into preacher mode and make the mistake of not seeing the detail.

Wherever this falls in your chart is where you need to ask the questions, to listen beyond the white noise. It’s also where you need to know when to stop questioning and when to simply trust your instincts and flipping do it already.

In the background of this full Moon is a conjunction between Mercury and Saturn in Sagittarius. It won’t be exact for another couple of days, but the energy is absolutely there. This one is a lot about truth – as, indeed is the Gemini Full Moon itself. It’s not just the truth as you think or perceive it to be, but the truth as you wish it to be. It’s the truth of the past that can help transform into the truth of the future. And yes, this all makes a weird sort of sense.

But what is the truth? That question is more than a tad more difficult to understand.

Where Saturn is involved, we can tend to dwell on the darker or more negative side of a situation, see only shadow when there is also light, lose the forest for the trees. Sometimes we absolutely do need to take tiny steps in the dark, but the whole point of a Full Moon is illumination, so our way forward is more visible than it would normally be.

A dreamy, imaginative trine between Jupiter and Neptune will help you see the more subtle, soulful nuances of spiritual truth – and what that means to you. While it’s important at all Full Moons to sit and reflect, it’s possibly more important at this one.

Why? Because Mercury is retrograde and everything I’ve just said above has the potential to muddy or distort the message.

Listening to more than what is said is absolutely vital in order to comprehend not just the full and big picture, but the textures and subtleties of that vision. And the only way you can do that is to pull back, sit quietly and reflect. If you’re into meditating do that, if you’re into sitting and watching the ocean do that, if you’re into grabbing ten deep breaths in between meetings do that. But whatever it is that you do, do it totally and without distraction. And then listen.

Doing it for yourself

Ok, by now you should know the drill, but if not, check out this post.

I’ve popped a solar guide below to keep things simple, but if you know where 11 Gemini 40’ falls in your chart, check that out.

As for what you can expect? By now you should also know what the general themes of each house are about, but if not- or if you’re new to this site (and welcome- it’s lovely to see you here)- you can always check out this post.

As for me?

This Full Moon doesn’t aspect anything in my chart, but it is lighting my 4th house. I’m in the process of getting the house ready for Christmas. I have a big picture vision in mind of how I want things to look and be, and am now dealing with the detail. There’s some family stuff in Sydney too that needs my attention.

Ok, that’s enough about me- now it’s over to you…

Venus in Gemini

One I prepared much earlier…

Last Sunday I found myself in the rare position of having absolutely nowhere that I had to be and nothing that I had to do. Sure, there were places and things that I should have been at or should have done, but I decided instead to take a “whatever” attitude and get over the guilt. Instead, I got the ironing up to date and watched Absolutely Fabulous and Sex and the City.

I have never quite been able to decide whether Carrie in Sex and the City is Gemini or Libra. She is definitely the Air element in the show – and her love of designer clothes certainly points to Libra – but her absolute passion for words, flirtatious nature, and her eclectic taste certainly points more to Gemini. Venus in Gemini likes to put together things that don’t match, but somehow work… actually, that’s Aquarius too – the things that don’t match bit…

Anyway, there is this episode of SATC in Season 4 where Carrie is sleeping with Ray, a jazz musician with whom she is having mind-blowing sex but hoping to turn it into a relationship. Ray is totally scatty, spontaneous, and young – possible the quintessential Gemini?  Carrie, though, feels the mental connection is missing between them and she ends the relationship when it becomes obvious that Ray has “stopped playing her and moved onto another instrument”. Walking home from what she calls ADD (Another Dating Disaster) she ponders why they call it mind-blowing sex – perhaps that level of physical connection obliterates the chance of an intellectual one? “Great sex is great, but I still like the song of a melody I can sing to”, she laments.

When Venus is in Gemini the mental connection will always be more important than the physical or the emotional or the practical. As Carrie says- “What kind of a relationship could I have with a guy I couldn’t even talk to?”  Venus in Aries (where actions speak louder than words) could manage this – possibly even revel in it – but Venus for Gemini it would be a deal-breaker.

Venus is where we find pleasure, what we like doing and who we like doing it with. When she is in the Air signs (such as Gemini), she is social, communicative, butterfly light, and immersed in the mental –ideas, theories, logic, connections – rather than the emotional realm of the water signs, the physical of the earth signs, or the movement of the fire signs. When Venus is in Gemini words will make you feel good – settling down to read a book is therapeutic, but meeting your friends to talk about it is even more so.

Gemini is mutable and needs variety and flexibility. If you have Venus in Gemini, you will like to browse, like to flirt and like to chat… a lot… with lots of different people about lots of different things. You may spend more energy on the idea or concept of a relationship than on love itself.

Venus in Gemini also has a reputation of being fickle. Beating the boredom is why Venus in Gemini may be able to juggle more than one partner or potential partner quite effectively. The inconstancy is also due to her search for the theoretical ideal relationship. When what looks good on paper proves quickly to not be so great in reality Venus in Gemini will move on. When your idea of a perfect relationship can change quicker than the weather changes in Melbourne, the mind (and the heart) can wander just as quickly. And before you write to me, that doesn’t mean Venus in Gemini is more likely to cheat than any other sign – just that their attention span can be, well, fluid.

A man with Venus in Gemini will be looking for a partner that has these Gemini qualities- youthful energy, busy-ness, flexibility and highly social. He wants someone with a quick wit that he can talk to and engage with on a mental as well as a physical level.

So, how do you keep Venus in Gemini coming back for more? The trick is to keep things interesting, keep them guessing, keep them curious and keep the communication flowing. Gemini.

Don’t have Venus in Gemini, but think this sounds like you? If you’re a Gemini woman, or have Venus in conjunction or easy aspect to Mercury, you’ll have some or many of these traits. If, however, you have Saturn aspecting your Gemini Venus, you may have difficulty in expressing them…just saying…

Doing it for yourself…

We all have Gemini somewhere in our chart, and it’s this part of life that Venus will be bestowing her presence on. It’s this part of life that you’ll find pleasure in. It’s this area of life that you might want to follow your curiosity, try something new, meet new people.

In my chart, Venus in Gemini is transiting the 4th  house. I’m on the search for the perfect piece of art to hang behind our lounge. I have my eye on a photograph, but can’t quite decide whether I want something more coastal. The search, though, means a bit more exploration.

If you don’t have your chart, read this post on how to get one.

If you don’t know what the houses mean, check out series 1 of the Toolbox or this post.

If you don’t have any idea about your birth time, or can’t be faffed working it out, you can follow the solar guide. Obviously, if you know where Gemini is in your chart, go straight to that house:

  • If your Sun or Ascendant is in Gemini, Venus will be transiting your 1st house.
  • If your Sun or Ascendant is in Cancer, Venus will be transiting your 12th house.
  • If your Sun or Ascendant is in Leo, Venus will be transiting your 11th house.

Mercury in Gemini

‘Because Y is a crooked letter and Z is no better.’ My Poppa used to say this to me when I was very young in answer to any of my ‘but why’ questions. I always accepted the response without further question.

But then again, I always thought my Poppa was such a clever man. He used to tell us kids that he learned to read off a jam jar, and that the trout that we had for our Sunday lunch on those visits to Grandma and Poppa’s were caught by him in the Tumbarumba River after hitting them over the head with a bit of 4B2* when they came up for air. (All my illusions were shattered the day I saw one in the deep freeze wrapped in the plastic bag from Snowy River Fisheries).

I never really questioned the answers, because it simply didn’t occur to me to do so. I still rarely question what I have been told and usually believe, often to my detriment, what is told to me – without question. To be honest, often I’m not that interested. I’ve absorbed whatever it is I really need to know and popped it away…

With the worst Mercury in history (we’ve talked about this before), I learn by osmosis – it seeps through my pores and becomes part of me – and becomes something I don’t need to question again.

Right now my job involves numbers- lots of them . I’m not good with numbers – or details – and I wasn’t employed to analyse them. Not that it matters, I’m adaptable, and will do whatever it takes. The thing is, I have a feeling about these numbers, but the idea of asking the questions to have that feeling proven really does my head in. In fact, at this point it feels as though there is too much in my brain and it’s all fighting to push out at the same time.

At some point, something will somehow join to something else in there and it will all click. It won’t be through questioning, or talking, or digging out even more spreadsheets – it will be when I’m alone and quiet…the way it usually happens.

Where, in my case, connections are made in my head in a way that I don’t even want to try and understand, Mercury in Gemini asks the questions – as many questions as he needs to ask, from as many people as he needs to ask, in order to understand what is being said. Mercury in Gemini doesn’t do misunderstandings. Mercury in Gemini uses his words and doesn’t accept what he is told on face value.

Mercury in Gemini isn’t just about being smart and knowing stuff (although people with this placement are often very clever), it is about making connections. Words are used to make connections, concepts are discussed, social networks are expanded.

Hod does Gemini think? Mercury in Gemini has an insatiable curiosity and is really truly interested in…well, in everything. And once he knows something, he generally has to talk about it. In this most flexible of Air signs, detachment allows the abstraction of emotions into messages that can be used and manipulated. Wow, lots of words and syllables there!

Not that Mercury in Gemini is necessarily into lots of syllables, but he is into lots of words and expresses feelings and thoughts with words – either verbally or in writing. No long meaningful sighs, no sarcastic “whatever”s, no second guessing.

When you have a partner with Mercury in Gemini, you will never die wondering.  If you don’t have Mercury in Gemini there will be times when you scream “enough already!”

If I had Mercury in Gemini, I would have asked more questions of Poppa. I would have asked things like:

‘But how can you learn to read off a jam jar?’

‘Doesn’t a jam jar only have ingredients on it? What about all the other words?’

‘What is a 4 B 2?’

‘What sort of fish come up for air?’

‘What other fish are in the Tumba River…do they come up for air too?’

‘Do they come up for air at the same time every day?’

To which I am sure he would have replied: ‘Because Y is a crooked letter and Z is no better.’

Doing it yourself…

We all have Gemini somewhere in our charts, and it’s this part of life that we’ll be asking the questions, making the connections, following the curiosity over the next few weeks.

Mercury will be in Gemini until 21 June 2017.

*4B2 is an Australian colloquialism for a piece of wood that is 4inches wide by 2 inches deep…or is that the other way around? I’ve never been bothered enough to find out.

Mars in Gemini

So anyways, Mars moves into Gemini today.

He didn’t feel particularly comfortable in Taurus – things don’t happen quickly enough there for Mars’ liking. Even the words don’t come quickly or easily – in fact, sometimes in Taurus the words can’t seem to come out at all. They get stuck somewhere between the heart and the head – in the throat.

By the time Mars hits Gemini, he has energy to burn and a brain full of words just waiting to come out of his mouth into a succinct, yet effective argument; social engagements to keep, and friends to catch up with.

Mars in Gemini is motivated by new connections, learning new skills, and pretty much anything that stimulates his curiosity. If you want to know more about Mars in Gemini – or Gemini men – check out this post.

Doing it for yourself…

We all have Gemini somewhere in our chart, and it’s this part of life that’s about to get an energy hit from Mars. Pull your chart out and look for the symbol of Gemini.

If you don’t have your chart, read this post on how to get one.

If you don’t know what the houses mean, check out series 1 of the Toolbox or this post.

What can you learn about this area of your life? Are there new connections to be made here, questions to be asked?

If you don’t have any idea about your birth time, can’t be faffed working it out, or are into whole signs, you can follow the solar guide below. If you do know, well, go straight to that house.

In my chart, Gemini is the 4th house – and boy, am I focusing energy on the house at the moment! We’re doing a lot of entertaining at home, and basically learning our way around the appliances. We’re also solving storage issues; working out where pictures get hung; wondering why the pump attached to the water tank runs all night; and finding someone clever to come and hook up all the cords that connect the TV to apple TV, foxtel, the speakers, and the projector TV.

Over to you…

  • If your Sun or Ascendant is in Gemini, Mars will be transiting your 1st house.
  • If your Sun or Ascendant is in Cancer, Mars will be transiting your 12th house.
  • If your Sun or Ascendant is in Leo, Mars will be transiting your 11th house.
  • If your Sun or Ascendant is in Virgo, Mars will be transiting your 10th house.
  • If your Sun or Ascendant is in Libra, Mars will be transiting your 9th house.
  • If your Sun or Ascendant is in Scorpio, Mars will be transiting your 8th house.
  • If your Sun of Ascendant is in Sagittarius, Mars will be transiting your 7th house.
  • If your Sun or Ascendant is in Capricorn, Mars will be transiting your 6th house.
  • If your Sun or Ascendant is in Aquarius, Mars will be transiting your 5th house.
  • If your Sun or Ascendant is in Pisces, Mars will be transiting your 4th house.
  • If your Sun or Ascendant is in Aries, Mars will be transiting your 3rd house.
  • If your Sun or Ascendant is in Taurus, Mars will be transiting your 2nd house.

Mars will be in Gemini until June 5, 2017.

Hello…it’s me…

Golden Zodiac decorative vector background

Ruler: Mercury

Detriment: Jupiter

Fall:

Polarity: Masculine/ Positive

Modality: Mutable

Element: Air

Body Parts: hands, fingers, lungs, nerves. In the body Gemini represents connection and dispersal of energy.

Here’s one I prepared earlier- last years Gemini post…

So anyways, you know I’ve been in Bali for the last 2 weeks, right? How could you not know? My instagram feed has been full of photos and and anyways is full of Bali posts.

We split our time between Ubud and Legian- the country and the sea…it made it 2 very different holidays. Ubud is, well, Ubud is a state of mind, a sense of being. It seems more spiritual. Legian is chaotic and raw and laid back in a different more beachy way. Both are hot and melty, but…same same only different.

The thing about both was the respite from noise.

How can I say that? Surely it’s all noise- especially in Legian?

Yeah…nah.

The noise I’m talking about is the noise that had been in my head. The numbers, the pressures, the constant- and I mean constant- stress. Before I went away, I could even hear the noise of my own heart beating fast in my head. Too fast.

Bali was a necessary pause- it put the world on mute for a couple of weeks.

For the last few days that metaphorical mute has become literal- as these things often do- I can’t hear out of my right ear… Gives new meaning to water on the ear, right? The same thing happened last year- and the year before. It’s almost like the Universe is helping me shut the noise out for a few more precious days.

Hubby and I were talking about it the other day. We were in a restaurant down in Legian eating watery chicken curry and laughing and singing along to an Indonesian Beatles cover band.

‘This is what I’d miss if we stayed in Seminyak,’ he said. ‘Sure the food is better, and there are less hawkers, but this is fun.’

I agreed with him. ‘A villa would be nice, though…don’t you think? Quieter, no huge family groups and no one to commandeer all the pool lounges.’

‘Too quiet,’ he said. ‘I couldn’t do it.’

He couldn’t. His idea of hell would be one of those super posh adults only resorts or private villas where the air is rarified, completely insulated from the outside and your every whim taken care of.

I don’t like the idea of rarified air, insulation or being looked after when I can do it perfectly well myself…and I still have enough red ragger (as hypocritical as it is these days) in me to dislike the idea of personal staff. But the quiet…oh the quiet sounded good. As did the private pool.

I told him that. He looked skeptical. The thing is, he likes people. He likes to have them around, he likes to be in the middle of them. He likes tours because there are other people. He likes bars because there are other people. He likes resorts because there are other people.

He has a Gemini Moon- he needs all of that to feel secure. I have a Pisces Moon- I need something very different. We agreed to disagree…

The Sun is now in Gemini and one thing that does tend to happen in Gemini season in our house is painting and decorating. At present my hallway and family room is striped with different colours that I’m trying to decide between. A little bit of this, a little bit of that. I’m about to head down to the hardware store for more samples. Something else we agree to disagree on.

This makes sense- Gemini is in my 4th house, so when the Sun comes through this part of the chart every year, my attention falls to 4th house type interests. It’s as if the Sun is warming through this part of my chart- bringing with it creativity and energy.

During Gemini season we socialize more at home- experimenting with different recipes, different styles, asking different people. I find that I prefer to stay in rather than go out. I also tend to try new authors, read and listen to different genres, faff about with different apps.

Wherever Gemini is in your chart will be the part of life that is energised for the next month. It’s worth following the Sun in this way- it helps you direct your attention to areas where the energy flows more freely.

Don’t know where Gemini is in your chart? You’d better read this post first.

Otherwise, use this solar guide:

  • Gemini Sun or Gemini Rising- 1st house
  • Cancer Sun or Cancer Rising- 12th house

Are You Listening? Gemini New Moon…

shutterstock_192589274

So anyways, Gemini season is one I have problems with- there seems to be too much noise, too much conversation, too many people wanting to “talk about it.” I love catching up, but for some reason, at this time of the year, I tend to search for more quiet.

I wrote a little about it in last years Gemini New Moon post- about needing space, respite from the numbers and the white noise. I wrote about how my words tend to disappear into a flurry of other peoples words at this time of the year.

This New Moon is all about communication, getting your message across, using your words…it’s also about listening- to other peoples messages, to other peoples words. How effective is your communication? How effectively do you comprehend that of others?

This New Moon, the Gemini New Moon, will bring a new approach, new information, and possible a new perspective to an existing situation that has been, well, going around in circles.

The thing is, this New Moon is conjunct Mars, so there is power and energy in your message- if you choose to use your words wisely. With Jupiter and Uranus involved in a trine elsewhere in the chart, it’s also about looking forward not back.

As I mentioned yesterday, I have some domestic renovations in mind, and wherever Gemini falls in your chart, is where something in your life needs some renovation- perhaps a coat of paint and a few new cushions. Metaphorically speaking, of course.

It will also be where you need to deal with blockages and insecurities of the Gemini kind- a little like taking a selfie and having a good hard look at yourself and what you say and think about yourself.

You might want to ask yourself questions like:

  • What is it that raises fears or blockages around your ability to communicate?
  • How can you nurture your ideas and dreams?
  • Are you being heard?
  • Are you actively listening to and learning from others?
  • What is it that’s blocking your ability to express yourself right now?
What are you prepared to do about it?
  • What ideas, perceptions or viewpoints are you resisting that need to be explored?
  • Are there new skills or concepts that you can study? What is stopping you?
  • What excuses are you making regarding that course you know you should enroll in?
  • Is there a part of you that believes that you’re not smart enough? What fears are driving this? What small steps can you take now to begin to overcome this?

The answers to these questions won’t be gained from noise- especially not from the white noise that invades our heads. It comes from stillness and listening, really listening to the absence of noise, to what your heart is telling you.

Give it a try, and make your wishes and intentions. Write them down. What are you waiting for?

Do it for yourself…

The DIY New Moon post is pinned to the home page, so duck over and have a look.

The symbol for Gemini is: 8563278_xl

The reference you’re looking for is 25 Gemini 07’- so look also for planets between 23-27 degrees:

  • Any planet within 2 degrees either side of the New Moon in the same sign as the New Moon is conjunct the New Moon- ie Gemini
  • Any planet within 2 degrees (either side) in the sign opposite the New Moon is in opposition to the New Moon- ie Sagittarius
  • Any planet within 2 degrees (either side) 3 signs around from the New Moon, and in the same modality to the New Moon is square to the New Moon- ie Pisces, Virgo.
  • Any planet within 2 degrees (either side) 4 signs around from the New Moon, in the same element as the New Moon is trine the New Moon- ie Libra or Aquarius
  • Any planet within 2 degrees (either side) 2 signs around from the New Moon, in the same polarity as the New Moon is sextile the New Moon- ie Aries or Leo

In my chart, this New Moon falls inside the 4th house, and is square both my 1st house Moon and Chiron (exactly).

I’m having some problems setting intentions around this- in the same way I have problems with Gemini season.

Sure, the impact of the New Moon will have its initiation in the 1st house, will be felt in 4th house matters, and (as always) an outcome in the 5th. Perhaps it has something to do with the mini renovations I’m doing at present- it’s certainly a great time to be using my (1st house) creativity (5th house) to be starting projects around the home (4th house). With Mars also involved, the energy and impetus to get this done is certainly available.

I’ll simply block out the white noise with some very loud house-painting music. Some of my best creative thoughts have come when I’ve been up a ladder with a paint roller in my hand.

What about you? What house does this fall in for you? What sort of intentions will you be setting for this New Moon?

Depending on where in the world you are, the New Moon will fall on Tuesday 16th June (Northern Hemisphere), or the early hours of Wednesday morning 17th June (East Coast Australia and New Zealand) or sometime in the middle (West Coast Australia, South East Asia).

So anyways, Mars moves into Gemini today.

He’s had a relatively easy time of it in Taurus- not that he likes being there- there’s not a whole lot to do, and things don’t happen quickly enough for Mars’ liking. Even the words don’t come quickly or easily- in fact, sometimes in Taurus the words can’t seem to come out. They get stuck somewhere between the heart and the head- in the throat.

By the time Mars hits Gemini, he has energy to burn and a brain full of words just waiting to come out of his mouth into a succinct, yet effective argument; social engagements to keep, and friends to catch up with.

In view of this, today we’ll rely purely on fact, lots of little facts in little bullet points to appeal to a Mars in Gemini brain.

Fact 1: The sign that Mars is in shows how you use your energies.

Fact 2: The sign that Mars is in shows how you assert yourself and fight.

Fact 3: The sign that Mars is in shows what turns you on (or off)

Fact 4: In a woman’s chart the sign that Mars is in tells you what characteristics you like in your partner.

Fact 5: The sign that Mars is in shows how you may try and impress a partner.

Putting it all together, in short sharp bullet points, if you have Mars in Gemini you will probably (all other things being equal):

  • Invest your energy on mental activity gathering lots of little facts and socialising in lots of different groups.
  • Your energy will be scattered, unfocused and inconstant
  • You will talk a lot
  • You will talk with your hands
  • You will like any activities where you use your hands
  • You will argue rather than throw things- especially when bored- in fact, arguing can be a way to pass the time with a particularly tiresome companion
  • Your boredom threshold is low- both in the bedroom and out of it
  • Speaking of which… think oral (and I know what is going through your mind…) and aural- kissing, talking (before, during and after- perhaps I should have entitled this post Talk Dirty To Me), sexy talk, sexting.
  • To Mars in Gemini, the brain is an erogenous zone and flirting is an absolute unconditional must have- don’t even think about getting down and dirty without a little mental foreplay.
  • You will impress your partner with your amazing ability to talk about anything
  • You will impress your partner with how much gossip you know
  • You will impress your partner with your quick wit
  • You will impress your partner with your ability to send messages of love or booty calls in 140 characters or less
  • If you are a woman with Mars in Gemini, you will be attracted to someone who is spontaneous, keeps you guessing, and is always changing. He might have personal planets in Gemini, have Mars in close aspect to Mercury or a lot of planets in the third house.
  • If you have a partner with Mars in Gemini, be prepared for their attention to wander. Mars in Gemini isn’t a particularly physical placement sexually speaking, so whilst his attention may wander, that may be all that has strayed- his attention, that is.
  • To keep a Gemini man (or someone with Mars in Gemini), be prepared to mix it up, keep the relationship interesting, keep them guessing.
  • Gemini doesn’t respond well to confined spaces (or relationships where his mind is not able to run free). He needs an environment where he is free to show you how smart and funny he is.
  • If you’re in a relationship with Mars in Gemini, don’t even think about locking him away for extended romantic dinners a deux or those villas where the 2 of you can see no one else for days on end. It might sound blissful, but he needs people.

Does this sound like you? If you are a Gemini man, have Mars conjunct or trine Mercury, or Mars in the 3rd house, it could sound very much like you.

And the song? Confide in Me by the divine Ms Minogue- how very Mars in Gemini.
