Something about being yourself…

Moon in Virgo

Ok, what I’m about to tell you about is a first world problem.

My ducted air conditioning is broken. And yes, I’m aware that we’re very lucky that we both have ducted air con and that we can afford to run it. As I said, first world problem.

It hasn’t been working for a few weeks, but with summer fast approaching, it’s become imperative we get it fixed.

Last week I had a technician in who diagnosed something to do with the air conditioning version of running out of gas. So he fixed it. At a ridiculous, but necessary, cost.

Then I turned it on this week. Yay. No. Now we have a different error message. I googled it and it’s something to do with the outdoor unit. So as I write this I’m waiting again for another technician to come back. He’s going to assess both the problem and the other guys work- it’s possibly appropriate that it’s all happening at the Virgo Moon.

As I said, a first world problem, but one that’s had its upside too.

Rather than immediately switching it on when the temperature approaches 30, we’re having to think about how best to keep the house cooler during the day. It’s what we should have been doing anyway, but weren’t. Once the AC is fixed, these newer habits should help keep our energy costs down this summer- last summers electricity bill was huuuuuuge.

Doing without climate control made me think about other areas where our energy use hasn’t been as efficient as it could be, and the changes that can be made there. Recognition of what’s not working, and tweaking things to make it better- or more efficient.

Anyways, this all leads me to chatting about the cardinal square. There’ll be more about this tomorrow when I pop up my New Moon post, but for now lets think for a minute about habits and structures and whether they are still of use. Let’s also think about the changes we can make to these, perhaps moves that make us uncomfortable in the short term, but will enhance our growth in the longer term.

That’s the Uranus/Pluto square that’s lurking in the background.

Yesterday the Sun squared Pluto, so ego came squarely into the power equation. Sure I can say that my battles with my air conditioner is a literal translation of this, but more than that is the question of what I’m holding onto. Sure I know the answer to that question, but putting it into practice relies on laying parts of myself on the line.

Today the Sun opposes Uranus. There is no coincidence that this follows so closely on the heels of the Sun/Pluto square. Not only is the way that you live and behave being tested, but so too is your authenticity.

Sun opposition Uranus is a testing one- I live with it every day as it’s an integral part of my birth chart, so this (short) transit is a reminder to me of the natal promise of that aspect.

For those of you who don’t have the Sun in challenging aspect to Uranus natally, you may feel it more keenly.

What does it mean?

I think Robert Hand, in Planets in Transits, says it best:

“The general function of this transit is to show you that you have not fully considered certain elements of your interaction with the world. These elements are related to parts of yourself that you have not adequately expressed before.”

Given that this opposition is happening across Libra-Aries, it’s about those parts of yourself that you’re not expressing through relationship…or through your relationship with the part of your chart that this is happening across.

Take note of those restless feelings and the direction in which they are pointing you, and don’t dwell too much on the practicalities of it all just now. In another couple of days when the New Moon triggers this point, things may just become a little clearer- as will their attainability.

One comment

  1. I’m afraid of this transit cause I’ve got 3 personal planets in aries and 2 in Libra and have doen a few STUPID things in my life 😮

But I must tell you as hot as it gets here in summer, I use ceiling fans and only air cond when its horribly humid. My elec bill is Less than $100 US dollars a month. If I can do it so can you!! Good luck.
