Taurus New Moon

I had another post planned and scheduled for this New Moon – a deeply, personal one. I deleted most of it. Thank I wrote another – also a little too personal for my liking…but…

You see, I was reading last year’s Taurus New Moon post and it hit me just how much had happened since then.

I’d written that post the day before our wedding anniversary and a couple of days before we flew out for a couple of weeks in Bali.

Hubby had started long service leave in an attempt to pause the nastiness that had been going on in his place of work, and I was considering resigning from my extremely high-pressure job. A lot of other stuff was going on in the background and we were both stressed to the max.

Those couple of weeks in Bali helped. A chance comment by a driver who said he laughed at westerners like us who turn up exhausted from working to pay for the holiday to recover from the work, who then go back to work just as hard to pay for the next holiday to recover from the work.

Seven weeks later we had a week in Mooloolaba between me finishing one job and starting another. The idea that had begun to germinate while we were relaxing in Bali grew. Was it really so crazy? Could we really move up here? Live up here?

What were we staying in Sydney for? I liked my job, I loved our friends, and my family. I loved our house, but I didn’t like my life. In hindsight, it wasn’t much of a life: three hours a day commuting, working on my writing all weekend and every night, fitting friends and family into tiny rationed gaps of time, no time for fun or exercise. I was a heart attack waiting to happen.

What were we doing it for? What if instead of struggling to pay the mortgage and being perpetually tired we could jump off the treadmill and actually live? Was that even possible? Yes…but not in Sydney.

Reading this post brought all of this back.

As you’d know by now, we did sell, we did move, we did exercise those other options. We made the sea-change. Yes, it was a risk – financially, it still is – but in hindsight, not only was it the best option, it was also the only one.

Yes, it’s been a leap, but it’s been done in a way that seems inevitable for a plan started under the Taurus New Moon.

It was a plan that has taken most of the last 12 months to come to fruition, but once we decided to make the move, we plotted it and stuck to our guns – stubbornly, and in the face of plenty of opposition and guilt.

It was a plan that involved letting go of oh so much – both physically and emotionally. I hung on more than hubby did this time – unusually so.

This whole exercise has also taught us the value of having a buffer – very much a Taurean concept. We had a Plan B for a rainy day. We also had a backup Plan C for Plan B, and a Plan D for Plan C – and I’m glad that we did. Things got very tight (financially) there for a while and it was our buffer that got us through – and will need to continue to do so until hubby finds work. The thing is, going back was never our Plan B. Our back-up plans were based on making our Plan A work, not having a exit route if things got a little tough.

I worry that there won’t be enough, that we can’t earn enough again, but I guess that will be the focus of my intentions at this New Moon. At the same time, as I drive over the hill every morning and see the expanse of the ocean before me, and the Sun rising to the East, all of those worries go away – at least for the hour I’m walking.

Physically I’m not yet lighter, but emotionally I’m a world away from where I was this time last year. I haven’t completely let go of what was weighing me down and holding me back, but I’ve slowed down, I’m grounding myself, and I’m appreciating life and nature and all of the things I had no time for when I was busy being busy and busy drowning.

Seeing the completion of a 12 month cycle like this – comparing last years New Moon journal to this one – is a reminder of just how all of this fits together in the big picture that is life.

Anyways, enough about me. Somewhere in your chart is Taurus, and where 6 Taurus 27’ falls is where you need to let go of something that is weighing you down or holding you back. It’s where you need to accept that you have enough – or actively seek to buffer if you truly don’t.

Make a plan, stick to it, and have a back-up – just ensure that your back-up is a back-up for the master plan, not an escape clause for if it all gets too hard.

Doing it for yourself…

If you’ve been reading along, you should know how to find where the New Moon is happening in your chart. If you’re new to this site (welcome), duck across and check out this post before you go any further.

The position you’re looking for is 6 Taurus 27’…or thereabouts.

Now, let’s set our intentions. Think about the area of life you’re focusing on and set small achievable targets. Make sure that you do at least one thing towards this goal this month. If you’re unsure where to start, check out this post.

  • How do the concerns of this house make you feel?
  • How would you like to feel about them?
  • What positive steps can you take over the next four weeks to minimise the gap between how you feel about this are and how you’d like to feel?

For me, this New Moon is in my 3rd house – sextile Mercury, conjunct my north node, and opposite Mars. My focus this month is around exploring my neighbourhood, making connections, setting daily routines and journeys. I have a list of things that I’ll do this month to help with that.

*****Write it down!!!!!!!!!!******

If you don’t have any idea about your birth time, or can’t be faffed working it out, you can follow the solar guide:

  • If your Sun or Ascendant is in Pisces, This New Moon will be in your 3rd house.
  • If your Sun or Ascendant is in Aries, This New Moon will be in your 2nd house.

Wherever this falls in your chart is where you need to slow down, let go and appreciate what you have. You might need to de-clutter whatever that part of life signifies for you, or stand back, observe it all and declare your gratitude. For a few ideas, check out this post on New Moon Wishing.
