Cartoon Heroines…

Jessica_rabbit

I got another rejection today on my chick lit book.

I thought I was getting better at dealing with them, but this one hurt. It pretty well got all the way through and was passed on at the final stage.

This is the second time this year that this manuscript has got to that point- last time I got the news quickly with some constructive feedback. This one took three months with nothing constructive at the end of it other than some garble about how I’m a fresh and intriguing voice. WTF does that mean?

So I needed to cheer myself up a little before forging back into the fray.

Anyways, a few years ago I mucked around a little with attaching cartoon or fictional characters to astrology signs. the post is here.

As I was scouting through the other day for images for Venus in Scorpio, I found myself drawn to characters like Morticia Addams, Jessica Rabbit and Natasha (from Boris and Natasha).

So I thought, as you do, what female characters would align with each Venus sign.

Here’s what I came up with…

Aries

Originally I thought Wonder Woman, but then I figured that she comes from a land far away and drives an invisible plane, so even with those amazing Taurean curves, she can only be associated with Sagittarius.

I’ve settled on Xena, Warrior Princess, although Merida from the Disney film Brave would also suit.

Taurus

With all that fur and music, I’ve gone for Josie and the Pussycats. Snow White was a contender- after all Mercury in Taurus is sweet of voice…and who else would be drawn in by food.

Gemini

Ok, I know she’s not a fictional character, but whenever I think of Venus in Gemini, I think of all of Kylie Minogue’s characters in the Confide in Me clip.

Cancer

For my money, this one is Maria Von Trapp…and yes I know she based on a real person…or maybe Mary Poppins

Leo

Who could it be other than Rapunzel with all that beautiful hair?

Virgo

I’ve gone for Agent 99- no one else could wear white quite so successfully.

Libra

Penelope Pittstop…absolutely.

Scorpio

The sign that started it all. I’m spoiled for choice…which one would get your vote?

Sagittarius

Wonder Woman…or maybe even Lara Croft, Tomb Raider- the female version of Indiana Jones.

Capricorn

Ok Capricorn, you’re gonna hate me, but I’m thinking Miranda Priestley from The Devil Wears Prada. I especially love that scene where her husband announces he’s divorcing her and, just briefly, her ambitious mask slips and you see her human side.

Aquarius

Catwoman. No further discussion required. Although my favourite Aquarius Venus heroine is Phryne Fisher…and I know her Venus is in Aquarius because the author posted her birth chart.

Pisces

Ariel. Could there possibly be anyone else?

What do you think? I’m open to other suggestions?
