Moon in Virgo

I’m still painting.

Four days into it, I’ve completed the door trims. Skirtings and window sills in the laundry, the family room, the back hall, the spare room and the ensuite bathroom. I’ve also re-painted the spare room, changed the light fittings in there and filled more gaps than I can count.

Today we start on the TV room- trims, skirtings and window frames…and there are huge windows in there. It’s the last room on my list. It’s been a big job.

Each trim has to be taped to ensure that enamel doesn’t get on any existing paint work, windows or floorboards. Each trim has to be sanded, primed, filled, and then have two coats of gloss applied. I’m working with oil paints (I find it dries harder), so that means clean up with turps and 16 hours in between coats.

Why am I doing this? I want to redecorate the main bedroom and hubby has insisted I finish everything else first. As I said the other day, I’m not great at finishing things. In fact, the cartoon above says it all.

I announced the start of Project Re-do Trim about 2 years ago. The scope was brief- replace the limewashed timber with the same soft cream I have flowing through (most of) the rest of the house.

It’s not that I haven’t done anything during this time- I changed the trims etc in the end TV room, Miss 15’s room and my office when I re-painted those rooms. It’s just that the other trims have been sitting there looking at me ever since.

As I’ve painted this week, I’ve found myself critically examining the workmanship in this house. The window in the spare room that’s off centre (a whole roller wide on one side and 2/3 roller wide on the other), the gaps between skirting and wall, the joins on a few of the sills.

Today, with the Moon in Virgo, I expect my attention to detail to be even more focused. That’s a good thing for the fiddly work that’s on the agenda today.

While the Moon was in Leo I did the style thing, got the colour onto the walls, dressed the rooms I’d finished. Yesterday I even did some creative thinking when I worked out that the blinds in the family room weren’t coming out of their brackets. I glad wrapped them and painted around the problem.

Anyways, I’ll be packing the paint kit away at about the same time as the Moon opposes Neptune- somehow it seems appropriate that this happens at around wine o’clock on Friday afternoon for those of us down under.

For the rest of you, the mind may be willing but the spirit weak…or something like that. Don’t worry, it doesn’t last long and the sextiles to Saturn that occurs just before will provide an opportunity to get some ticks on that to do list of yours.
