Road to Nowhere- Venus in Sagittarius

Sometimes music says it best. I have a girlfriend who does a CD mix every year full of songs which say the things she wants to say.

I often wish I could do the same, but it would still be exposing my feelings too much. Perhaps this is why I like to use music in these posts- sometimes a song lyric says it better than I ever could.

I loved it when Venus and Mars were in Scorpio. So many songs about obsession, jealousy, deep love.  Songs like Amiel’s Obsession (I Love You) and Pet Shop Boys Jealousy are about love my way.

Lyrics like this from Amiel’s Obsession are what it’s all about- saying stuff that you feel but can’t say:

See these hands they wanna touch you
See these eyes they wanna watch you
See this mouth it has to taste you
As our lips part I start to miss you
And with my arms wrapped around you
I breathe in and I devour you

Venus in Sagittarius couldn’t be more different. Where Venus in Scorpio is love in deep water, in Sagittarius she is a firework. Where Venus in Scorpio is intense, in Sagittarius she is light and fun. Where Venus in Scorpio wants to possess and control Sagittarius wants to run free and experience everything the world has to offer (and more) preferably with other free spirits.

Venus in Sagittarius is a group of backpackers from a heap of different countries travelling together in a combi van with surfboards on the roof up the coast to Byron Bay, swapping cultures and languages over a beer in the beachside pub. The group will grow as Venus in Sagittarius likes to collect people along the way.

Venus in Sagittarius is setting off on the road less travelled, broadening horizons through travel and philosophy and ideas and cultures. Venus in Sagittarius is following a Guru to an ashram in India, gazing longingly at Indiana Jones in teacher mode at University and finding love across the seas.

So what song do I use for that? Possibly Robbie Williams’ Sin Sin Sin or The Road To Mandalay. Beach Boys Surfin’USA, or perhaps Train’s Drops Of Jupiter? Maybe even Aqua’s Cartoon Heroes?

Where Venus in Scorpio wants all of you in a complete emotional merging, Venus in Sagittarius may not be around for garbage night. It is here that the similarities between Pisces and Sagittarius (the 2 signs ruled by Jupiter) are at their most obvious. Both signs are escape artists, both signs have their eyes very firmly fastened on the future, both signs are just a tad allergic to the here and now and will break out in hives at the mention of the word “reality”, and both signs will roll their eyes back in their heads and self destruct rather than be chained or fenced in.

Venus in Sagittarius doesn’t like their love to be too heavy. Sure they like to philosophise, but not about their relationships. And they like honesty…to the point of bluntness. “I’m just not that into you” is exactly what it is. “Is my bum fat in these jeans?” Yep…but a man with Venus in Sagittarius probably likes a woman with a bit of cushioning in that area, so to speak. In fact, a man with Venus in Sag will be more of a bums & legs man than a tits man.

He will also like a woman he can share life’s adventure with, someone with ideals and faith, a friend, a fellow traveller. If you want someone to discuss culture, religion & politics with, choose venus in Sagittarius. Want to party all night and rise at dawn to catch the sunset from the top of a mountain? Choose Venus in Sagittarius.

But if you are into analysing the state of your relationship or emotional dramas? Move on. Quickly. He already has. He doesn’t play games & doesn’t want a woman who will do this. He doesn’t have time for manipulation, tact or flattery. So if you like those things, stay clear of Mr Sagittarius. While you are crying into your drink, he will have moved on- not having any idea what he said to upset you…nor will he care greatly. He is often oblivious to the hearts he leaves behind. David Bowies’ Putting Out Fire With Gasoline perhaps? (Bowie has Venus in Sagittarius).

Having said that, Venus in Sagittarius has the optimism and generosity of Jupiter. He would give you his last $20, because seriously, Dude, there will always be more around the corner.

Venus in Sagittarius likes to play the field, check out what the fillies are like in the other paddock and, shall we say, experiment a bit. Bungy sex anyone? For all those people who have come onto this site asking “how do I get a Sagittarius to commit?” the answer is clear. You don’t.  Sag is a fun date, a great mate, but getting him to commit is often a matter of being in the right place at the right time.

He will often end up with someone from a different culture, race, country or social standing- diversity is paramount. Nor is possession important. Venus in Sagittarius will not try to own you, and will be over that fence if you try and own him. But treat the relationship as two equal partners out on the adventure of a lifetime and it could just last a lifetime.

Well we know where we’re goin’
but we don’t know where we’ve been.
And we know what we’re knowing’
but we can’t say what we’ve seen.
And we’re not little children
and we know what we want.
And the future is certain
give us time to work it out.

We’re on a road to nowhere
come on inside.
Takin’ that ride to nowhere
we’ll take that ride.
I’m feelin’ okay this mornin’
and you know.
We’re on the road to paradise
here we go

Maybe you wonder where you are
I don’t care
Here is where time is on our side
Take you there…take you there

  1. Hi Jo, this is SO accurate it’s scary! I have a BF with Venus in Sag. The interesting thing, is that he’s a Scorpio with Mars in Scorpio and has none of the jealousy or possessiveness you usually associate with Scorpio. It’s infuriating how “light” his attitude is, and he’s in his 60’s!! doesn’t matter.

  2. He sounds wonderful- the best of both the intensity of Scorpio & the it’ll be cool Dude attitude of Venus in Sag.

  3. Fantastic and true about Venus in Sag.there is a poet/artist who is trying his strengths with me with Ven in Sag(he is a gemini)trying so hard-so in vain,woman-taurus sees the instability and fickleness and what do I do-learn from it and say”NO thank you.next !”
