blah blah flipping blah

The Moon today is in Capricorn.

Regular readers will know that the Capricorn Moon is one of those periods each month where (for me) the blah blah blahs come very easily. It feels grey.

It should be a great time for getting work done, for getting down to business, for being practical, for dealing with money concerns, for exchanging business cards, for budgeting…but what I really want to be doing doesn’t fall into any of these categories.

It’s in the fighting against the spirit of the Moon that I have issues. I make it harder for myself by pushing through with creative targets when I’d have a much more effective day if I scheduled activities more in keeping with the mood.

I have issues with the Capricorn Moon mainly because I don’t have a good relationship with Saturn. I’ve spoken about this before as well.

This is why when I post about loving, say, the Sagittarius Moon, others may completely disagree with me. This is absolutely valid.

While the emotional weather forecast will affect us all in some way, it will impact us personally depending on:

  • The placement of your natal Moon
  • The aspects made by your natal Moon to other planets

This information will influence how you identify with the daily Moon and its ruler.

As an example, those of you out there fortunate enough to have Saturn well integrated into your charts (or at least better integrated than I do…which wouldn’t be hard…) may relish the productivity and progress that comes from a Capricorn Moon. It’s a very personal thing.

It’s a bit like I relished the Sun and heat on our recent trip to Thailand, where my husband preferred to stay close to the air conditioning.

Anyways, with the Sun, Mars and Venus in Taurus, today is an especially earthy day.

Supportive links to Mars, the Sun and then the monthly conjunction with Pluto will add oomph and focus to your efforts today. This is all one foot in front of the other, sustained effort, long term focus stuff, which means the potential for frustration when quick results aren’t attained will be high.

Slow down, keep your eye firmly on the goal and maintain your routine. As someone much wiser than me would have said, motivation will provide the spark to get you started, but habit and routine will finish the job.

Last time we talked about emotional weather forecasting.

Knowing the forecast is one thing, how you react to that is another, much more complex matter.

The way I react to a forecast, my perceptions of it, will be very different to how you might react.

As an example, I have difficulty with the Moon in Capricorn, Libra and Virgo.

When the Moon is in Capricorn I feel like I have a big black cloud obscuring my vision. I feel depressed, I feel lonely and I feel as if I’m not good enough. I feel as though I have no confidence in myself- or my abilities- and that my efforts will all come to nothing.

Despite the Capricorn Moon being sextile to my Pisces Moon, I have a very poor relationship with Saturn natally- it’s this that I feel when the Moon is in Capricorn.

Others may find Capricorn Moon times as great planning days, great strategy days, great just get in and get it done days. I struggle with this.

I feel the mood lift as soon as La Luna shifts into Aquarius. Even though I don’t deal with Air energy well, even though the traditional ruler of Aquarius is also Saturn, it’s the emotional energy of Uranus that I tap into. Natally I get Uranian energy- I live with that energy every day through my Uranus- Sun/Moon opposition.

Mercury in my chart is also weak- it’s seriously the worst Mercury in history. As a result, I struggle with Gemini Moons. My Mercury instinct is a 12th house one, the Gemini Moon forces me to be social.

But that’s just me.

I know this so try and schedule my activities around it.

I know I’m going to be forced to socialise when the Moon is in Gemini- whether I like it or not- so consciously arrange lunches or coffee catch ups…and usually enjoy them.  Having said that, I know that by the end of it I’ll be ready for the Cancer Moon and to retreat to where my head can be quiet again.

I know that creatively I’ll be fighting an uphill battle when the Moon is in Virgo and Capricorn so schedule those tasks that I know I don’t enjoy anyway.

I know that my energy will be high when the Moon is in a fire sign or in Scorpio and under no circumstances blow off training sessions. I know that without a release of this energy, the potential for pointless argument is very high.

I know this because I’ve tracked my moods over a long time- and I know my chart inside and out.

So, my pointers:

1. Know your influence.

If you’re a lunar type- have the Sun, Moon or Ascendant in Cancer, Sun or Moon in the 4th house, other personal planets in close aspect to the Moon- you will be more influenced by the emotional weather forecast than others may be. Know this.

2. Your Sun sign

When the Moon is in the same sign or element as your Sun, head and heart will be operating from the same motivation. This is a good thing- even if natally your Moon and Sun don’t get on.

3. Your Moon sign

When the Moon is in the same sign or element as your natal Moon, you will be familiar with the energy- good or bad. What do I mean by this? Say for example you have the Moon in Gemini square Mars. This can be a difficult placement- and one that you need to learn how to deal with. Each month when the Moon moves into Gemini, it will replicate that natal pattern. It mightn’t be comfortable, but it is familiar- you live with it every day. It’s also a good opportunity to work with that energy.

4. Know your challenges

This is similar to the above point. Know which planets are relatively challenging in your chart. This might be a planet that doesn’t aspect any other in your chart.  Because you’re not working with it every day, when it’s triggered each month by the Moon, it will act like a toddler clamouring for attention. Good or bad, you’ll notice it.

Your challenge might be a planet that is like my Saturn and Mercury- in a sign where it is debilitated. I’ll post more on this later.

5. Know your houses

If you know your Ascendant, or rising sign, you’ll know which part of life the Moon is influencing.  When the Moon is tracking through your 12th house, you might feel like staying in bed for the day or sitting cross-legged under a pyramid on the top of a mountain.  When the Moon is in your 6th house, make the most of any opportunity to get the routine work done, and when it’s in your 5th house, make the time to have some fun or be creative. Yu can plan your days accordingly.

If you don’t know your birth time, use the solar house system ie your Sun sign will be on the cusp of the 1st house and so on- this will give you a reasonable approximation.

6. Know your transits

The Moon moves quickly so is rarely responsible for anything more life changing than a good or bad hair day. La Luna can, however, act as the trigger point for a major transit. What do I mean by this?

Say you have Saturn applying to square your Sun. The energy has been building for a while and you can feel the heaviness, but as yet nothing has happened. The Moon transiting either of these points could be the trigger. Remember, we are talking here about an aspect being exact or almost exact, and we’re talking outer planets transiting personal planets.

7. Know your Lunar nature

Your Moon might be in Pisces, but if it is closely aspected by another planet (especially by conjunction, square or opposition) it will behave very much like the sign that planet rules. When the Moon is in those signs, the energy will feel familiar. Eg my Moon is conjunct the Sun, and opposite Uranus and Pluto. The energy of the Aquarius, Scorpio and Leo Moons feel familiar to me. If your Moon aspects Saturn, you probably won’t have the difficulties with the Capricorn Moon that I do. If your Moon aspects Venus, you’ll be in tune with the Taurus and Libra Moons.
