Neptune trine Mars transits
I’ve had 8 hours sleep- spread over the last 2 days.
I’m exhausted.
In fact, I haven’t had any more than about 6 hours for what seems like the last few weeks, or it could be months. Most nights I average 5 hrs. Some high powered very productive people might be able to exist and function in polite society on that- I can’t. I feel like I’ve been tired forever. It’s probably why I succumbed to man flu the other week and why I still don’t feel 100%.
It’s felt as though my energy is gradually leaching out of me.
There are things I need to be doing, and the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. Every time that I feel my strength is coming back, I do too much and have a relapse.
Yesterday I had one of those blinding flashes of the obvious- since August Neptune has been less than a degree away from trining Mars.
Mars represents our drive, our get up and go- the way in which we go after our desires, particularly that which our ego desires. Neptune dissolves things, adds a spiritual element. The trine helps it all happen quickly and easily. No wonder I’m tired.
Neptune first came within 1 degree of Mars back in March. When the trine was exact I was in Thailand on holiday. Rather than doing what I usually like to do on holiday ie run around, do as much and see as much as possible, an inconvenient head cold prompted me to spend the best part of a week lolling about on a deckchair on a beach in Phuket.
Looking back, that was Neptune speaking to me. Although I wasn’t inclined to listen to what she had to say, extreme tiredness and a virus forced me into action- or rather inaction.
My time on the deckchair allowed me to appreciate the now. It nourished my spirit and my imagination, and gave me an idea for a new fiction piece- the first draft of which I wrote when Neptune was trine Mercury in June and July.
If it wasn’t for the cold (which I’m convinced was the outcome of either an ill advised swim in a dodgy looking hotel pool in Bangkok or the accidental ingestion of dodgy water during Songkran celebrations) I wouldn’t have spent my days on that beach. And, if there’s a better place to spend a Neptune-Mars transit, I’d like to hear about it.
Neptune is retrograde now, so what I’m feeling is the second pass.
This time the trine was exact a few weeks ago.
It was the October Long Weekend and all I wanted to do was lie by the pool or catch up on TV. I hadn’t been sleeping, (I already told you that part) so didn’t have the energy to do what I’d scheduled to do that weekend- clean out the garage.
But, as we had a council clean up scheduled for that week, I had no choice but to push through. You guessed it- I ended up with another head cold, this time triggered by the dust etc that found its way up my nasal passages.
Neptune is notorious for opening the body up to invaders- infections, bacterias, viruses. Indeed it “rules” the immune system and lymphatic system- both of which are easily compromised in those of us with strong Piscean signatures.
Another thing Neptune rules is those poisons and substances masquerading as something else ie alcohol, tobacco, drugs, pharmaceuticals. Yesterday, when I connected the dots, I also acknowledged that my night-time wine has been creeping up without me really noticing it. Neptune is, after all, transiting my 12th house.
Sugar cravings are also creeping in- although I haven’t given into them yet. Combine the increased alcohol, sugar cravings, foggy brain, water retention, difficulty sleeping, asthma, and a myriad of other symptoms you don’t need to know about, and it’s obvious that my candida infection is out of control again. And yes, this is also something that Pisceans are prone to. Neptune does, after all rule (with Jupiter) my first house, so any Neptune transit will always have a 1st house impact for me.*
Neptune stations direct in a couple of weeks, at 2 Pisces 35’, just 30’ shy of exactly trine Mars. The third trine will be exact on Christmas Day, but the influence will still be with me until January.
The thing with Neptune/Mars transits is it’s about dissolving the ego and pushing the focus towards a higher, more spiritual purpose. The trouble starts when you don’t listen to the message- or, because of the pressures of normal life, are unable to listen to it.
I’m lucky. With contacts to the Ascendant, Moon, Sun and Jupiter (as well as Uranus, Pluto and Chiron), I live with Neptune daily.
Also, the aspect in question is a trine- the energy, such as it is, flows more easily. Neptune is asking me to step back, and I’m fortunate that I’ve been able to- even though I didn’t realise that I was supposed to be stepping back…if that makes sense.
Somehow I’ve instinctively done what this aspect was asking me to do.
I’ve sat on a beach, I’ve started teaching astrology, and I’ve allowed my idea of the trappings of self to dissolve a little- some would say more than a little….although my fantasies of dropping out somewhere in Bali will remain as fantasies…for now.
Now that I’m aware of it, I’ll also be cutting out all possible food sources for the candida infection- yep, that means bread, wine, beer and any other sources of sugar, yeast or (ew) mould- for the next month.
When Neptune comes to call, not only is it difficult to recognise, but it’s also difficult to deal with the transit intentionally- after all, by it’s very nature a Neptune transit will be insidious in nature.
My tip? Recognise that this is not a great time to follow your own. Understand too that your internal GPS will be malfunctioning, so it’s far easier and more rewarding right now to go with the flow. The current might tip you out somewhere different to where you thought you were headed, but maybe it’s actually where you need to be. And finally, if you resist the call to step back, Neptune just might force you to do so.
*Your Neptune/Mars transit may not be the same as mine.
Why?
The nature of the transit will depend on:
The house Neptune and Mars is in natally
The house being transited
The house/s ruled by both Neptune and Mars.
Also, the more attuned you are to Neptune natally, the more readily you will deal with the Neptunian influence via transits.
