Daily Planets Week Ahead

The week ahead: June 10, 2019

Sunrise from Mooloolaba Beach

It’s a public holiday in most of Australia tomorrow – for the Queen’s Birthday. In case you’re not from around here, the Queen has two birthdays – her actual birthday, which is in April, and her official birthday, which is celebrated on the second Saturday in June.

Most states in Australia celebrate her birthday on the second Monday in June, but here in Queensland, we don’t. We celebrate it on the first Monday in October – when most other states have a holiday for Labour Day…which we celebrate on the first Monday in May. Go figure.

Anyways, even though I don’t officially have a public holiday tomorrow, I sort of do because I work for Sydney and they’re on holiday. Anyways, I’m sure that you didn’t drop in here to hear about the vagaries of the Australian public holiday system. You’ll be wanting to know what’s going on in the skies. Am I right?

As I write this, Venus is well and truly entrenched herself in Gemini. I did have something half drafted so will try and get that up on the blog tomorrow morning…all going well. Other than that we start the working week with the Sun meeting up with Neptune and then Jupiter.

Those of you who are much quicker on the uptake than me will have noticed that Neptune and Jupiter are the co-rulers of Pisces and between them and the Sun are covering off three of the four mutable signs.

Both Neptune and Jupiter are about faith. Where Jupiter is concerned with growth and expansion through experience, Neptune is more interested in the soul and spirituality and whenever Neptune is concerned look beyond what whatever it is that I’m writing. Neptune is never about literality. It’s about subtlety and nuances and fluidity and sensitivity. Anyways, I have a couple of short posts on these equally short transits scheduled over the next days. As a spoiler alert though, it really is about not overdoing it and understanding the difference between fact and fiction.

This pair of aspects is interesting though in that it’s a bit of a precursor to the next Jupiter-Neptune square which will be just before next week’s Sagittarius Full Moon; but more on that next week.

Once that’s done we need to wait until the end of the week for anything else very interesting – a trine between Mars and Neptune – followed less than a day later by an opposition between Mars and Saturn. Then on Sunday evening, we have yet another trine to Neptune – this time by Mercury.

I’m not sure about you but when I see this combo of transits I can’t help but think of a conflict where you’re cheering for the underdog or are a worthy and completely selfless cause but come up hard against authority or roadblocks. I try really hard to keep this site free of any political commentary – even though at times I’m sorely tempted – but there have been some issues regarding freedom of the press here in Australia at the moment that have a distinct Orwellian whiff about it.

Of course, Mars trine Neptune could just be an easy flow of sensitive and intuitive energy, a preparedness to put yourself above your own ego and tuning into your spiritual courage and an ability to communicate at a heart level. As my character in the novel I’m writing at the moment would say, the world needs more kindness – and more tea and scones. It’s tough to think nasty thoughts and commit dastardly deeds when faced with tea and scones. Just saying.

Okay, I’ll have bits and pieces up throughout the week but as per usual, once I’m in the throes of the day job will probably forget to link it up to Facebook or Instagram. I think by now you know I’m not great when it comes to Facebook.

Other than that, if you want to know what I’ve been up to in my non-astral life, jump on over to and anyways for the 5 things that made me smile last week. And yes, I know that there are more than 5 things on the list – there always are, but my eyes glaze over when I have to count past 5.
