The week ahead…

So anyways, I’ve spent the last couple of days in Canberra. Mr T’s mother lives there, so we try and get down a few times a year- at least. Miss T is learning to drive, so was able to use the mini road trip to get some hours into her logbook.

For those of you who follow me on instagram, apologies for the hotel photos and lobby love I’ve been sharing, but honestly, Hotel Hotel is worth sharing photos of. We stayed there last visit too- in fact, I wrote about it here.

There’s an old (and boring) joke that you could shoot a cannon down Northbourne Avenue (the main road through the centre of Canberra) on a weekend and not hit anyone. It’s an old (and boring) joke about the staleness and staidness and general perception of nothingness that Canberra has always had. It’s got something to do with the fact that it’s a government town.

Having once lived there- happily…and extremely socially busily- I’ve never agreed with the old (and boring) joke. Over the last few years, though, Canberra has developed a stylish soul- and this area around Hotel Hotel in New Acton is at least partly responsible for that.

Speaking of road trips, I used the travel time to do some more planning for our end of year road trip through England. I posted a bit about it in Friday Five. Over the next weeks and months, I’ll share some more of where we’re going. It’s a mix of family commitments and sightseeing…with an awful lot to see and walk and take photos of.

On and anyways, I also popped up something about writer’s block and the numerous head-spaces my over-worked brain tends to occupy, and also a little something about my new novel Big Girls Don’t Cry. It has even less to do with astrology than my first, Baby, It’s You…I can tell you, though, that my heroine has an Aries Sun and my hero is a Taurus. I’m being a tad clichéd too by making him a landscape architect- and had some fun designing some great spaces for him.

On the astro blog I popped up something on Mercury in Virgo, and something on Mars in Leo (I adore the pic I chose for that one). I also shared a review of Jessica Shepherd’s Karmic Dates and Momentary Mates. There was so much in this book that really resonated with me…and so much that I wish I’d read years before.

Oh, there was also the usual Tuesday Toolbox…unsurprisingly, on Tuesday.

To the skies…

The big news for the week ahead is Jupiter’s ingress (a fancy pants astro word for changing signs) into Virgo. Ok, I haven’t written anything on this yet, but will, of course, do so. In the meantime, I’ve updated the Jupiter page on the website, with all the lovely links, so if you want to know what the next 12 months could have lined up for you, work out what part of life Jupiter is intent on expanding, check out this page. You want a hint? It will be where Virgo is in your chart- by now you should know how to find that, but if not, just follow the solar chart eg if you’re an Aries, Virgo will be in the 6th…and so on.

The first major aspect of this week doesn’t fall until Thursday when Mercury faces off against Neptune. Both planets are super strong and in the signs that they rule. Neptune is at her most dreamy, confusing and illusional and Mercury is at his most rational, logical, organisational and discriminational. Yes, I just made that word up.

You know when you have so much that needs to be done, but more is coming into your head and you just don’t know where to start? What about those days when there is clutter everywhere, and paper just keeps landing on your desk or kitchen bench or whatever and you just don’t know where to start? Or those days where your head is full of great ideas or major problems, but you just don’t know where to start? That’s what this aspect is like.

If you can get away with daydreaming, or escape into not a lot that’s productive, that would be a good move. If you have to at least fake at being productive and disciplined in the partition, pick one thing- the thing that has the highest priority of all the high priority things competing for attention- and tackle that.

Oh, and try not to take anything at face value. People, stories and even your own gut-churning anxiety probably shouldn’t be trusted today.

Having said that…it’s a great transit for spinning a few of your own. I wonder if I can get a day off for writing?

This one is followed by Sun trine Uranus. This short transit is one of my personal faves. It’s energetic, enlivening, and stimulating. Sure, it’s not great for discipline and routine tasks, but seriously, do we want to be disciplined and in a routine all the time? Oh, right, yes, that’s what most of us are paid to do….ooops. Whatever it is you do, take a broadened perspective along with you- and leave preconceptions and judgement at home.

We have ourselves a New Moon at 21 Leo 30′ (or thereabouts) on Friday afternoon. I should get something up for that- all going well…and might even get the New Moon newsletter out on time too.

We end the week with the Sun conjunct Venus. How fabulous do you feel? Sunday will be a day for showing the world just that. I have another weekend of painting planned for next weekend, so I’m not sure that paint stained bike pants, my super stylish bintang t-shirt with the evidence of every paint job I’ve done over the last couple of years, and my special painting flip-flops screams fabulousness. Whatever.

Have a great week!
