Sun, Dirt, Water- Pisces Full Moon

So anyways, this morning hubby and I were in Bunnings. For non-Aussies, Bunnings is a huge hardware chain. It’s one of those stores that men disappear into. It’s like a giant man cave. My husband, who is not at all the DIY type, loves it. That’s the thing about Bunnings- it makes you feel as though somehow you could be DIY inclined.

This morning as we were walking the aisles trying to decide between the battery operated hedge trimmer or the petrol version as his surprise Father’s Day present, when we heard another couple squabbling over the same kit.

He said, ‘I really want a hedge trimmer, Darl.’

She said, ‘we don’t have a hedge to trim.’

He said, ‘it’s not about having a hedge.’

Naturally, I tweeted the conversation, but as I was typing the words it occurred to me- that man’s wife had totally missed the point. Bunnings isn’t about practicalities. Sure, it’s full of building, gardening and DIY needs, but more than that, it’s about possibilities.

Then it occurred to me that this is exactly what the Full Moon in Pisces (in the early hours of Sunday morning here in Aus, sometime during Saturday for those of you in the Northern hemisphere) is about- that balance between possibility and practicality…dreams and reality…

When the Moon is in Pisces, for a few days we’re in a world where everything is one and anything is possible. It’s a couple of days where imagination and illusion are heightened. Throw a Full Moon into the picture and it’s all magnified.

The Pisces Full Moon casts the spotlight firmly on the differences between fantasy and reality, escapism and routine, empathy and practicality, chaos and organization, flying by the seat of your pants and following process, breezy disregard for detail and attention to fine details. Wherever this falls in your chart is the area of life that is being exposed to these contrasts.

The Pisces Moon looks to escape into the dream world of the imagination. Virgo Sun looks to reality and practicalities and efficiency. Virgo Sun reminds us that there is a huge list of everyday things that have to be done…but under the Pisces Full Moon we ask whether it needs to be done now, or whether it can wait.

At last years Pisces Full Moon I wrote about how I’d made the decision to self-publish my novel, Baby, It’s You. The Full Moon was conjunct (and I mean conjunct) my Ascendant- the Full Moon was at 16 Pisces 19’ and my Ascendant is 16 Pisces 29’. Reading that post this afternoon, I was amazed at how it had all panned out over the last 12 months.

This years Pisces Full Moon is conjunct (and I mean conjunct) my Mercury. The Full Moon is at 6 Pisces 06’ and my Mercury is 6 Pisces 18’. Yesterday I had an editorial meeting to talk about the structural work required on my 2nd novel. Yes, my editor is has a strong Virgo signature. She takes my ideas and helps give them substance and form. It’s a perfect partnership.

Next months Solar Eclipse falls exactly opposite my Sun…and I mean to the degree exactly. There’s a story here.

If you’ve been keeping your own lunar journals, check out what was going on for you at last years Full Moon.

What about at this years Pisces New Moon? The intentions that you made then are at a point where they can be seen most clearly. Perhaps they need tweaking, perhaps something is culminating for you, perhaps opposing forces (perceived or real) are putting roadblocks in your way. Perhaps you’re ready to give up. Only you can answer these questions.

Doing it for yourself…

By now you should know the drill. If not, check out this post and refer back to Tuesday Toolbox lesson 1 and 1.1 if you need help drafting or reading your chart.

You’re looking for 6 Pisces 6′- so also take an orb of 2 degrees (or so) before and after that. The symbol for Pisces is below…

In my case, the lessons of this Full Moon will begin in the 1st and the 12th houses- where the Moon and Mercury reside natally in my chart.

Most of the action is taking place in the 12th. This is where I escape to, or into. It’s where my imagination is, where my stories hide, where I come undone, and where I sabotage the efforts I’ve made in the 6th.

The outcomes? As always, with Cancer on the cusp of my 5th house, Full Moons impact this area of life. Mercury rules my 4th and 7th houses, so it’s also about home, roots, family and relationship.

Aside from what else is going on at the moment, this has a literal translation for my current book as it’s these themes that Big Girls Don’t Cry explores.

Try it for yourself…

The title comes from a song by Aussie band, The Waifs.
