Something about the shadow…& some celestial argey bargey…

Moon in Leo

So, Mercury is now in Scorpio, joining Venus and Saturn.

Mercury usually spends 2-4 weeks in a sign (eg was in Libra for only 20 days) but, because of the retrograde period, will be in Scorpio until December 6. Yep, that long.

We’ll talk more about this particular retrograde when it happens, but essentially Mercury turns retrograde at 18 Scorpio 22’ on 21/10 (or thereabouts- depending on what part of the world you are in) and turns direct at 2 Scorpio 34’ on 10/11 (or thereabouts- depending on what part of the world you are in). This means that the so-called shadow period will last from Oct 1 (when Mercury reaches 2 Scorpio 34’) until Nov 27 (when Mercury reaches 18 Scorpio 22’ for the second time).

What does this mean?

You know, I’m not a big one for the shadow period, but then by now you know my views on Mercury retrograde- I see them more as a universal reminder of the need to insert some pauses into life. I figure that if we all pulled up stumps for the period of the retrograde and the shadow, we’d have about 3 useful and productive months in the year…ok, that’s a slight exaggeration, but you get my point.

For now, just get your data in order and firm up any travel bookings that need to be completed. It’s also a great time to re-acquaint yourself with my Mercury Retrograde Survival Guide.

Elsewhere in the skies, after a weekend in Cancer, the Moon is now in Leo. Although this is a great time to get creative or playful, with Mercury, Venus and Saturn in Scorpio, there may be frustrations ahead today as the Moon squares each of these planets.

Uranus will be in the background, well as much as Uranus is ever in the background, aiding and abetting La Luna. ‘go, on- do it…you know you want to…’ But when fixed squares are involved, you can usually expect to see some argey bargey.
