Saturn finally moves out of Scorpio and into Sagittarius tomorrow. Finally. I think it’s something about how fixed signs can sometimes take a bit longer than others to recognise the need to make changes- and then do something about it. When I just said that to my very fixed Scorpio hubby- he scowled at me. Whatever.
My point is, Saturn moved into Sagittarius just before Christmas last year. Then he back-tracked. It was a little like when a teacher leaves the room and the class goes back to doing what they shouldn’t be doing. So he comes back until they’ve learned their lesson. Like that.
Anyways, he’s heading back into Sadge tomorrow.
Moving into Sagittarius, the sign ruled by Jupiter, has made me think about how these two planets work together. Sure, Jupiter gets the accolades, while Saturn is the fun cop, but you can’t make the most of the opportunities that Jupiter brings unless you’ve done the hard work that Saturn demands. It’s like that old saying by someone or other famous that goes something like ‘the harder I work, the luckier I get.’
It’s also like a conversation I heard on a podcast for writers the other day. The question was asked: which is most important- self-belief or self-discipline? The hard fact is without the self-discipline to sit down and do the work, self-belief doesn’t mean much. Without the self-belief, it’s hard to sit down and keep pushing through with the hard work.
To continue the writing analogy, say a publisher comes knocking (yeah, in my dreams). That’s Jupiter luck, right? If you haven’t done the work though, what do you do? ‘I was going to get those chapters revised, but x,y,z got in the way. I’m really good though- I believe in myself.’
See what I mean? You can’t have one without the other.
I have a pretty good Jupiter- as a result, I tend to land on my feet…eventually.
I have a pretty crappy Saturn- as a result, I tend not to make the most of the opportunities that come my way- they look too much like hard work, or commitment or responsibility.
That’s the part I’m working on- the self-discipline part.
