At the Aries Full Moon last year I confessed to an inexplicable and hidden addiction to plastic cheese and True Blood. I’m over True Blood now- the witches series pretty well did it for me. In truth, it was just an excuse to put an image of a shirtless Alcide on the blog.

The Aries Full Moon shines the spotlight squarely on the me/we question. Which leads me to another tenuous connection to the wolf pack in True Blood– a reminder that as strong and independent as we are individually, we are even stronger when acting together with others. The whole “no I in team” scenario.

But what happens if there is no I in us? What happens if in becoming we you lose me?

That’s the conundrum we face with relationship.

We want to be close to another, because, most of the time, (it should) feels good. Sharing your dreams, your goals, and your desires with another…that’s a good thing yeah? A problem shared is a problem halved…and all that.

In theory.

But you also take on their goals, their dreams and their desires…and their problems. If your partner is having a pesky Saturn transit, like it or not, so are you. That’s what it’s about. And then what happens when his goals don’t match yours? What happens when her problems mean that you need to compromise on your dream? What happens when you forsake what you really want so that she can have her hearts desire? What happens when in becoming we, you lose me?

The answer, as these answers always are, is somewhere in the middle. Getting there though, is not, as these things rarely are, easy.

The rulers of this Full Moon are pointers on that map.

Venus’s trine with Uranus indicates that the path to individuality within partnership maybe an unusual one. People often get hung up on the way that things should be, the way society says a relationship should look- sometimes this is neither the case, nor appropriate.

It’s a little like how some people form a relationship and then set about turning their partner into what they think the perfect man should look like- and then complaining that he’s not the man she fell in love with.

Venus/Uranus is about finding authenticity in relationship your way.

How?

With Mars, the ruler of the Moon, opposite Neptune, the way is your heart. Put away the detail, the plans and the shoulds, and listen instead to what your soul is telling you. And yes, I know that this also is easier said than done- real life often is.

Get it right and together you can go your way and settle somewhere where there is space for you, me and us.

Full Moon contacts usually indicate a trigger point from an external source- something happening to you rather than within you. The nature of that event will depend on the area of life being exposed, the planet being aspected and the house/s ruled by that planet.

Wherever this Full Moon is in your chart is where these issues (all of them) will be playing out for you- more so if you have planets at or around 24-27 Aries, Libra, Capricorn or Cancer. Has there been something heating up in your life? Think back to the New Moon in Aries- what was happening then, what were your New Moon wishes? Are they about to come to fruition? Will the Magic 8 ball finally be right? Do you have the intestinal fortitude to take the initiative and make it come true? Do you have the courage to turn I into we? To make a move and take things to the next level, or to walk away entirely and be prepared to not look back?

This Full Moon is accompanied by a lunar eclipse- the first in Aries since 2005.

Some people tend to feel eclipses as they happen- either through specific events or electric charges. I don’t.

This doesn’t mean that things don’t happen, just that the impact seems to me to be more subtle than it is for others. I tend to think that the closer you were born to an eclipse, the more you directly or immediately feel their impact.

As I wrote yesterday, since 2005, I’ve had a number of relatively close hits to key parts of my chart- direct hits by conjunction or opposition to my Ascendant, Descendant, Moon, Venus, Mars, Midheaven, Mercury. I’m talking about orbs of less than 1 degree.

Nothing has happened. Nothing catastrophic.

Looking back though, these were years when important issues were faced or changes occurred. Hindsight is a truly wonderful thing.

The thing is, eclipses are not necessarily something to be scared of. They can be invigorating, they can be momentous, they can be electrifying and unpredictable- a little like Uranus in nature, a little like Pluto in nature, a little like an adventure.

This eclipse and Full Moon is square Jupiter and trine my Moon. Am I scared? No. Experience tells me that it’s nothing to be scared about. Am I excited? Hell yeah!

Given the Venus/Uranus flavour of this Full Moon, the version of my title song I’ve chosen is, of course, by The Pet Shop Boys
