The Month Ahead: May…

I’m madly scheduling posts ahead for May, so I’ll keep this update short and sweet.

Ok, how was April?

My novel has come back from the editor, so is now ready to start being re-written. I’m also writing all the extra bonus bits for the Toolbox ebook. I’ll tell you more about the progress of that in June.

In between freelance assignments and corporate busyness, I spent a fabulously relaxing long weekend over in Wellington, New Zealand. I’d kept the detail of what had been going on in my life fairly quiet from most people, so took the opportunity to do the unburdening thing with one of my besties. There was also much eating and drinking. My liver may have suffered, but my heart certainly felt lighter.

Some of the chaos of the last few months began to smooth itself out during April. Hubby effectively finishes work at the company he’s been with for over 36 years this Friday. The process has been an emotional one, but we’re all getting there.

The timing couldn’t be better. Our 22nd wedding anniversary is next Saturday (as is the New Moon- how much more text book new starty can you get?) and we fly out for Bali on Sunday. The perfect fullstop to one part of our life, and the perfect start to the next.

Naturally, you’ll be able to follow my travels on instagram and and anyways. The links to both are in the sidebar.

What else is happening in May? Of course there’ll be scheduled posts for each of these events, but for now*:

Something about Saturn, Mars, Mars in Capricorn and party planning…

So, I’ve spent the weekend in Wellington, New Zealand.

I deliberately turned off global roaming on my phone, so apologies for the radio silence.

I was there for a special friends special birthday. Now, this friend is a Scorpio Sun, Capricorn Moon and, apart from being one of my besties, is without a doubt the most effective Project Manager I have ever worked with. Evidence of those skills came out loud and clear in the running order for this weekend.

In true secretive Scorpio mode she managed to keep all arrangements, venues, details and costumes a complete surprise- something that drove my Scorpio Sun, Gemini Moon husband absolutely batty, but appealed to my Piscean sense of wonder.

And wondrous it was.

The venue was in a remote part of the west coast of Wellington. The views were intense and the facilities amazing. It’s called Boomrock, in case you’re interested.

Anyways, the point of this is planning.

Mars has now moved into Capricorn- where he is exalted.

For those who don’t know, when a planet is exalted in a particular sign, it’s as though they are a very special guest- made to feel extra good.

Mars in Capricorn is highly effective, and motivated by respect, structure, experience and a measured ambition. Surprisingly I can’t find where I’ve written a blog before on this one, so will have to rectify that in the next couple of days. Mars in Capricorn is a little like having Mars conjunct Saturn- the effort is disciplined, measured and seriously effective.

Anyways, with Mars in Saturn ruled Capricorn and Saturn in Mars ruled Scorpio, the two malefics are said to be in mutual reception- able to help each other out.

Further, Saturn at 5 Scorpio is said to be in the “terms” and “face” of Mars- in other words, has a definite Martian feel about how he goes about setting up his structures.

Between the two of them, this period between now and Christmas is one where goals can be achieved- if you are prepared to focus your effort, and go at it head down and bum up. Mars in Sagittarius was a big dreamer- now those dreams can be cemented into practical foundations for success.

Yes, even if Mercury is still retrograde.

For now, do your “re” things and plan out your next move. The time for definite action will be when Mercury turns direct.

From my viewpoint, I’ve been motoring away at my nanowrimo manuscript. I’m now dead on target at 31000 words, but have definitely been flying by the seat of my pants, with no idea of how the story is developing- although, given that I’m experimenting by writing it backwards… In any case, I’m thinking that a little structure might now be warranted.

Lunas Saturnas…and a dead fish

Today was sort of weird. Half party atmosphere, half hard work. And that makes sense given that the Moon moved from Sagittarius into Capricorn during the day.

We had allocated today as the day that those of us who are left in the office would do the whole all hands on deck to clean up the detritus of 10 years in the same office. And it is amazing the crap that we found and laughed about and threw out.

What was more amazing was to see the things that had caused us huge amounts of stress over the years consigned to a recycling bin without a seconds thought.

I found a photo of TTM (Taller Than Me) that I had pinned up in my little partition soon after we moved into this building. She was 2 or 3 and had that baby softness and ringlets in her hair, but the same big dimply smile. On my Facebook status I used the hashtag #beenheretoolong.

Other finds were not quite so endearing. Such as the tiny silver fish that had gone missing from the tank while I was in Brisbane earlier this year, with grave fears held for his safety. Yep, found it today. Eeeeeuw.

So, Lunas Saturnas…the Capricorn Moon. Arguably the most melancholic and depressing Moon of the month- and more so if you don’t have a good relationship with Saturn. For those of you attuned to Saturn and Capricorn, it is a perfect time to get stuck in and get things done.

Capricorn is above all else about accomplishment, experience and hard won respect. The Goat is at his most secure and comfortable at the top of a mountain- the sort of mountain that lesser mortals look at, shake their heads, ask if there is a another way up or a road or something. Yet, the mountain goat will clamber up, one cloven foot after another. That sort of effort and dedication deserves respect.

The Capricorn Moon knows that anything worth doing is worth working for- without short cuts, without catch-ups. Just well planned and executed goals and strategy.

The next few days are perfect for this sort of activity- anything involving planning, strategic focus, networking and work. If you have anything that you feel needs some extra worry or a good dose of pessimism, the next few days is great for that too.

The photo I have used in this post was taken from the top of a mountain in Wellington, New Zealand. The friend I stayed with recently did a run of almost 30kms across mountains very similar to this. Achievement and respect personified…. but also a touch of Piscean madness thrown in.
