Scorpio Full Moon

Scorpio Full Moon 11/5/17 20 Scorpio 24’ 7.42am (Australian East Coast time)

Just as I always do, I re-read last years Scorpio Full Moon post. It brought back all the emotions from that time – hubby’s job, my job, the imminent departure of a dear friend, violence that was too close to home, the constant anxiety. All of it. It was a raw, intense, and deeply emotional time.

The leap that was made last year led to the decisions that led to the ultimate decision – the one that brought us to our sea-change.

The Full Moon in Scorpio is all about facing fears and letting them go, waving them goodbye. It’s about letting go of control and trusting the outcome. It’s about releasing something (or someone) to allow something else to come in. It’s about letting go to see what’s underneath. It’s about letting go to let it be the way that it will be. It’s about watching a movie without the spoilers, and reading the whole book before flicking to the end.

I’m a different person this year, and this time the Scorpio Full Moon isn’t so much about fear and the unknown depths – and those depths were pretty deep last year. This year it’s about healing, transformation and rejuvenation. It’s Scorpio Moon, but I’m in a different part of the cycle this year – and it feels sort of the same but, at the same time, so very different.

Doing it for yourself

Where 20 Scorpio 24’ (or thereabouts) falls in your chart is where you may be resisting change. You mightn’t think you’re afraid, but oh so often, that’s what it truly is. What are you hanging on to, trying to control the outcome of? It’s this you need to release. Your balance can be found on the other side of the chart – at 20 Taurus. Think about what this house represents and whether there’s balance or imbalance between these two similar, but different parts of life.

For a refresher of the steps, check out this post or click onto the Full Moon pic on the side-bar. Don’t forget, often we don’t get our Full Moon insights until we stop for long enough to recognise them as such.

Where is this happening for you? 20 Scorpio is in my 9th house and trine my Sun (to the degree), and sextile Pluto and Uranus.

Ninth house Full Moons are generally about taking a leap of some description – trusting that you’ll land ok – into something beyond your normal comfort zone. With the Full Moon in Scorpio, something else has to be let go. What I’ll be letting go of – deliberately so – are those habits that are impacting my health (the Sun) and holding me back from taking the next leap.

If you’re not sure where this is for you, check out the info below, and refer back to Series 1 of the Toolbox for pointers on what each of the houses means.

If you don’t have any idea about your birth time, or can’t be faffed working it out, you can follow the solar guide. If you do know what house it is for you, head straight there. As a reminder, I’m using whole signs – and here’s why.

  • If your Sun or Ascendant is in Taurus, this Full Moon falls in your 7th house. Look to the 1st for balance.
  • If your Sun or Ascendant is in Gemini, this Full Moon falls in your 6th house. Look to the 12th for balance.
  • If your Sun or Ascendant is in Cancer, this Full Moon falls in your 5th house. Look to the 11th for balance.
  • If your Sun or Ascendant is in Leo, this Full Moon falls in your 4th house. Look to the 10th for balance.
  • If your Sun or Ascendant is in Virgo, this Full Moon falls in your 3rd house. Look to the 9th for balance.
  • If your Sun of Ascendant is in Libra, this Full Moon falls in your 2nd house. Look to the 8th for balance.
  • If your Sun or Ascendant is in Scorpio, this Full Moon falls in your 1st house. Look to the 7th for balance.
  • If your Sun or Ascendant is in Sagittarius, this Full Moon falls in your 12th house. Look to the 6th for balance.
  • If your Sun or Ascendant is in Capricorn, this Full Moon falls in your 11th house. Look to the 5th for balance.
  • If your Sun or Ascendant is in Aquarius, this Full Moon falls in your 10th house. Look to the 4th for balance.
  • If your Sun or Ascendant is in Pisces, this Full Moon falls in your 9th house. Look to the 3rd for balance.
  • If your Sun or Ascendant is in Aries this Full Moon falls in your 8th house. Look to the 2nd for balance.

Let it Go…Scorpio Full Moon

Full Moon 3/4 May, 2015 13 Scorpio 23′

So anyways, this week my heart has been a flutter. Literally.

Work is particularly stressful- end of month always is- but what is really making me anxious, and proud, and physically scared is the imminent release of my book, “Baby, It’s You.”

All the what-ifs are going through my brain, and each time I think on them or dwell on them, I feel that tell tale flutter of heart stopping fear…along with a flutter of pride at what I’ve achieved. Both at the same time.

You see, I have the files now. It’s finished. It’s ready to be uploaded to Amazon. Just last night I was reading it on my kindle as part of the final proof-check.

The thing is, I’m not worried about any part of the book itself- it’s as good as I can make it. I’ve done the work, followed my project plan, ticked the boxes.

What frightens me is the stuff I can’t control- how other people feel about it, what other people say, the perceptions others might have of me after this.

As the chaos has been mounting in my work life, I’m grabbing at whatever I can and holding it too close. It’s like reading the last page of a book so you know the ending, googling for spoiler alerts so you’re prepared for the shock, asking endless questions of pendulums and horary charts until the Universe yells “enough already!” Not that I do any of that…of course…

It’s ridiculous, but it’s what I do- “own” other people’s stuff, take on the responsibility for things I shouldn’t, attempt to control outcomes that I know logically I can’t. It’s why I’m currently as strung out as I am at work. I can’t seem to let it go. Yet, let it go I know I must. Otherwise it will literally make me sick. It already is- for the first time in my life, my blood pressure is higher than it should be. In order to be well, I have to let go.

The Full Moon in Scorpio is all about facing fears and letting them go, waving them goodbye. It’s about letting go of control and trusting the outcome. It’s about letting something go to allow something else to come in. It’s about letting go to see what’s underneath. It’s about letting go to let it be the way that it will be. It’s about watching a movie without the spoilers, and reading the whole book before flicking to the end.

Square Jupiter, there’s a temptation, a struggle and a challenge that also needs to be met. How far are you prepared to go? Are you prepared to take that leap of faith and trust that there will be enough…or indeed, more?

My Lunar Journal…

Although this Full Moon doesn’t aspect any planets in my chart, it falls just inside my 9th house. Just inside- less than a degree. And Jupiter is currently transiting my 5th. If you’ve been following my personal lunation journey through these monthly posts, you’ll see that for me this is a culmination of the themes that began last Full Moon in Scorpio.

Jupiter natally sits in my 5th and rules my 10th house (and my first). The Moon rules my 5th house. The 5th is about children, creativity and play- the things we give birth to and take risks on. The 9th, the house the Full Moon falls in, is about journeys, quests, faith. It’s also associated with publication and broadcasting.

My personal challenge at this Full Moon is a 3rd house Taurus one- to balance the Scorpio and Taurus parts of me- perhaps even to let go of my constant need to be in control. I’m on holiday in just over a week, and that’s exactly what I’m looking forward to doing- walking, massages, relaxing, eating, being, letting go.

DIYing it for yourself…

By now you know the drill, and hopefully are keeping track of your own lunations through a journal or something. If so, have you seen any patterns start to emerge?

Check out where the Full Moon falls in your chart

This Full Moon is at 13 Scorpio (or thereabouts), so pull out your birth-chart, and look for 13 Scorpio. The Scorpio symbol looks something like and M with its tail shooting up like an arrow…(see the pic below)…

If you need a refresher on getting your chart, go to this post.

What house is that in?

This is the part of life that will be under the spotlight for you. If you need a refresher on what each house means, go to this post.

Does the Full Moon make any aspects to planets or points in your chart?

  • If you have planets at 11-15 degrees of Scorpio, they will be conjunct the Full Moon
  • If you have planets at 11-15 Taurus, they will be opposite the Full Moon
  • If you have planets at 11-15 Aquarius or Leo, they will be square the Full Moon
  • If you have planets at 11-15 Cancer or Pisces, they will be trine the Full Moon
  • If you have planets at 11-15 Virgo or Capricorn, they will be sextile the Full Moon
  • Don’t forget to include chart points as well (ie house cusps- especially the 1st, 4th, 7th & 10th).

Putting it all together?

With the Sun in the opposite sign Taurus, control and trust issues also come to the surface. Taurus is about retention and Scorpio elimination. Are you holding onto something that you no longer need? Maybe there is some truth lurking just beyond plain sight- something you know is there but simply don’t want to face. Under the Scorpio Full Moon it is time to find it, deal with it, get rid of it, move on. If only it were that easy…

Scorpio is that shadowy place where we pack away all of our deepest fears and our deepest desires. It is everything we repress, keep a lid on, hide away, yearn for. Scorpio is pleasure and it is pain, with a very fine line between the two. It is where we torture ourselves waiting for phone calls that we know won’t come, it’s where we feel the exquisite pain of the forbidden. Scorpio is where we go below the surface to find meaning, solutions, complete healing and transformation.

Scorpio is also about power and facing those fears in order to get to your talents and achieve those desires. And there is nothing that has more power over you than fear. Fear provides you with the completely mistaken idea that you are in control. So, you stay safe, you say no, you build boundaries around yourself- to stop people getting in and to stop yourself from getting out. And all the while you fool yourself that in doing so you have control. Until you don’t.

I think it was Eric Francis (of Planet Waves) who wrote that most people who are scared are actually horny but don’t know what to do about it. I would also add that they are hungry. Ravenously hungry. Hungry for desire, hungry for passion, hungry for power, hungry for control, hungry for revenge. The type of hunger that keeps you awake at night, gnawing at your insides.

This is an appetite that you do one of two things with.

You are scared, so bury the feelings down deep. You dig a big hole in the middle of your soul, throw in the stuff that scares the crap out of you, the things that you desire so much that you can’t bear it, or risk it. You cover the hole with about 6 tons of soil and secure it with a big, heavy wrought iron lid…and a key…with a lock that has a password or a combination…on time delay. Then you sit back sit back and try not to think about what you have missed out on. Let the discontent fester as you feed it from the fridge or the wine cellar- feeding all the gaps that are left when you locked your desires away. Create a few excuses- a few logical reasons why you haven’t fulfilled your potential, grabbed those opportunities, told that one person how you really feel about them.

The thing is, the hunger hasn’t gone away. You still want what (or who) you want, but now you lie awake replaying missed opportunities, the things that you should have said, the things you should have done- if only you weren’t so scared.

The other thing about burying this stuff like a great toxic waste dump, is that sooner or later it will get dug back up, or uncovered- and Scorpio Full Moon is a prime time for that to happen. The problem is, when it does finally come to the surface, it’s all decayed and manky, and even more scary and unpleasant than when it first went underground. Sometimes it’s best just to rip that particular bandaid off.

Alternatively, you can strip Fear of the power you have given her and use it to fuel your courage to do the things that fear has stopped you from doing in the past. Reclaim that power for yourself. Eliminate those beliefs, behaviours and people that are doing you no good. Let them go- sure you may miss them, but not for long. Look deep into yourself and see the truth- you can handle it. Then get out there and do it- all of it. Seriously, how hard can it be?

Scorpio demands truth and honesty and will usually dig deeply to get at it. Only through emotional detoxing and the symbolic opening of the closet door can you fully confront your unexpressed desires and the fears that you locked away with them and embrace whatever is to come.

You gotta love it when NASA starts talking dirty about the swollen orbs of a Full Moon.

This one is huge- the Moon, that is…about 14% larger than any other full moon of 2012…at least it will appear to be 14%-17% larger (depending, I guess, on your idea of size and perspective). Why? Because the Full Moon coincides with the Moon being at perigee, ie the closest point to Earth in its’ elliptical pattern. This particular perigee is the nearest to Earth of any this year. And, judging from the language used in some of the broadcast materials, this has left the scientists very excited indeedy.

Whilst we might normally say, with tongue planted firmly in cheek, that size doesn’t matter, in this case it does. Seriously, just how Scorpio is that?

The tides are higher (and lower) than normal at perigee (and apogee- when the Moon is at its furthest point from the Earth)- due to the amount of tidal force the Moon has at this time- up to 40% greater.

This Full Moon is bringing with it king tides that will be higher than those usually seen at perigee. I was reading in Twitter yesterday how some South Pacific islands were evacuating their beachfront bures for that reason.

Controversial Kiwi weather-man Ken Ring commented, “There is always a reason to be careful around all perigees, as they exaggerate whatever else is going on in weather. Closest perigees are even more reason to be vigilant.”

King tides, tsunami, earthquakes, tidal force, gravitational pull, emotional storms. Wow. How appropriate then, that this is occurring in Scorpio? I challenge anyone who knows someone with Scorpio Moon or Pluto-Moon (especially the conjunction, square or opposition) not to comment upon the magnetism.

This scaffold was 20 stories in the air. At this point the typhoon was at cat5.
This scaffold was 20 stories in the air. At this point the typhoon was at cat5.

A few years ago, I was in Hong Kong in the middle of a category 8 typhoon. I went outside the hotel to have a look at what was going on, saw the waves lashing at the typhoon shelters in the harbour and escaped with a 6 pack of beer back to the safety of my room. The power of the wind and the rain was destructive, yet also strangely exciting.

So it is with emotional storms. The after effects can be completely cathartic as the fear is washed away. Just as it stings when a bandaid is ripped away, the longer you leave it covered over, the longer the wound takes to heal.

Personally, I’m going to have a good, hard look at what is on my bucket list, the things I really want, the excuses I put around these desires and ambitions and the fears that have stopped me moving forward.

Being a Moon-Pluto opposition, I have a lot of things that are decaying underground that need to be looked at seriously before moving on. That process was started a couple of days ago- with discussions, and semi-confessions that cleared some very stale and manky air. The rest I intend to really sweat out. But then, for me, this Full Moon forms a relatively easy aspect- the trine- to my Ascendant. Whatever is going to happen will happen easily- not necessarily without pain, but also without a lot of resistance.

Another thing of note about this Full Moon is the slowdown of Venus, who is almost at a standstill- not at all the normal mode of movement for this girl, but certainly a good opportunity for us to spend some time reviewing and considering issues of relationship, values and money. Take that to Scorpionic extremes- what you really feel strongly about.

Further, Mercury’s opposition to Saturn means that any consideration will be serious, realistic and mature. Try not to let yourself get drawn into any sort of melancholy with this- the past is the past, history is history and yesterday is, well, so yesterday.

If you do happen to get caught up in some emotional tidal wave (and remember, not all of us will), keep in picture that clean and bright light that follows a storm. The light that all of a sudden lets you see clearly and makes the colours so much more vibrant and fresh.

Oh, todays post title comes from the lyrics of a Shakespear’s Sister song Stay. Check out the youtube video here.

Full Moon 8 Scorpio, Wednesday 28 April, 2010 10.18pm (Sydney time).

Scorpio demands truth and honesty and will usually dig deeply to get at it. Only through emotional detoxing and the symbolic opening of the closet door can you fully confront fears and embrace whatever is to come.

The Full Moon is like a high beam exposing secrets and fears. Under the Scopio Full Moon it is time to find it, deal with it, get rid of it, move on. If only it were that easy…

The other key words we associate with Scorpio are transformation, potency and power- in this annual face off between body and soul, anything is possible. Pluto (the modern ruler of Scorpio) at 5 Capricorn, forms supporting aspects to both the Sun in Taurus (trine) and Moon in Scorpio (sextile), so now is the time to look to your deepest and possibly scariest unexpressed desires… and yes, acknowledging what we want can be extremely scary…

With Mars squaring off from the other fixed sign, Leo, challenges are a given and will either push you to be your best or have you planting your feet in the mud in fixed resistance against what your ego is fighting but that you know in your soul to be true and that must happen.

Mercury is conjunct the Sun, but retrograde, so don’t be surprised if the effects of this Full Moon are delayed. Over in Pisces, Uranus and Jupiter are taking your anything is possible dreams right up to Saturn in hardworking Virgo who is making sure that we don’t forget about our responsibilities. Uranus and Saturn are exactly opposite each other today.

For the astro peeps- look at where 8 Scorpio falls in your chart for more clues. On a personal note, this Full Moon falls in my 8th house, on top of my South node and just a couple of degrees past my natal Mars in Scorpio. It also forms a supportive trine to my 12th house Mercury in Pisces. Given that transiting Pluto is currently sextile both Mercury and my Mars, the repetition of these themes and the natal pattern at this Full Moon Must Mean Something (caps intended).

Best go- I have some very scary unexpressed desires to find. I think I last saw them hidden in that dark corner behind my boundaries which were pushed somewhere behind those casks of wine…
