Venus in Aquarius

Venus is about to move into Aquarius. In Aquarius, she takes pleasure in the quirky, the unusual, the non-conventional.

If you want to know more about Venus in Aquarius, you’ll find the post here. If you have Venus in Aquarius, Venus in close aspect to Uranus, or are (or know) an Aquarian woman, you might want to have a glance.

Doing it for yourself…

We all have Aquarius somewhere in our chart, and it’s this part of life that Venus will be bestowing her presence on. It’s this part of life that you’ll find pleasure in. Consider the avant-garde, something you haven’t done before, people or places that are different to the people you usually associate with and the places you usually go. Experiment, play, and look forward, not back.

Of course, how this manifests for you will depend on what part of life Venus is transiting while she’s in Aquarius. In my chart, Venus is transiting the 12th house (I’m working with whole houses more and more these days). I’m trying meditation on for size at the moment – and looking to restart a yoga practice after about 10 years (or is it more?) away from it. I’m exploring my inner hippy a tad more.

If you don’t have your chart, read this post on how to get one.

If you don’t know what the houses mean, check out series 1 of the Toolbox or this post.

If you don’t have any idea about your birth time, or can’t be faffed working it out, you can follow the solar guide:

  • If your Sun or Ascendant is in Aquarius, Venus will be transiting your 1st house.
  • If your Sun or Ascendant is in Pisces, Venus will be transiting your 12th house.
  • If your Sun or Ascendant is in Aries, Venus will be transiting your 11th house.
  • If your Sun or Ascendant is in Taurus, Venus will be transiting your 10th house.
  • If your Sun or Ascendant is in Gemini, Venus will be transiting your 9th house.
  • If your Sun or Ascendant is in Cancer, Venus will be transiting your 8th house.
  • If your Sun or Ascendant is in Leo, Venus will be transiting your 7th house.
  • If your Sun or Ascendant is in Virgo, Venus will be transiting your 6th house.

  • If your Sun or Ascendant is in Sagittarius, Venus will be transiting your 3rd house.
  • If your Sun or Ascendant is in Capricorn, Venus will be transiting your 2nd house.

Venus will be in Sagittarius until 11/2/18.

Venus in Sagittarius

Venus is about to move out of steely and intense Scorpio into Sagittarius.

Sagittarius is associated with exploration beyond your boundaries- and finding pleasure in that.

Sure this could mean planning a holiday or taking a holiday, but it could also mean reading an unfamiliar genre, or exploring your spirituality, taking your learning to another level. It could mean having fun outdoors, doing some tramping or hiking (Sagittarius is all about using those big muscle groups), gathering a group of friends and trying a new cuisine.

Anyways, if you want to know more about Venus in Sagittarius, I just happened to have prepared something (much) earlier. You’ll find it here.

Doing it for yourself…

We all have Sagittarius somewhere in our chart, and it’s this part of life that Venus will be bestowing her presence on. It’s this part of life that you’ll find pleasure and expansion in. It’s this area of life that you might take up study in, or push your boundaries in. It’s this part of your life that you could find yourself asking yourself ‘why not?’ or ‘how hard can it be?’ It will require faith, but only with discomfort comes growth.

In my chart, Venus is transiting the 10th house (I’m working with whole houses more and more these days). I’m already into production planning for next year, but more from a take a goal and double it viewpoint. It matches the message I saw written on the toilet wall in the cafe I work in each Friday:

Dream Big – Work Harder

(As an aside, it wasn’t a graffiti message – one wall in each toilet is painted in blackboard paint and there are buckets of chalk attached to the walls.)

Anyway, the thing is, I’m really aiming high and wide and trying things I haven’t done before. No doubt you’ll hear all about it through 2018.

  • If your Sun or Ascendant is in Scorpio, Venus will be transiting your 2nd house.

Venus will be in Sagittarius until 25/12/17.

Venus in Libra

Venus is about to move into Libra- the sign that she rules (remember back to this Toolbox?). This means that she likes being in Libra – a lot. She’s supremely comfortable, in her own home, so to speak.

Venus loves pleasure – and the things and activities and people that bring us pleasure or that we find pleasure in…and so does Libra. Beauty is just one of these things, so is style, peace and balance.

Anyways, if you want to know more about Venus in Libra, I just happened to have prepared something (much) earlier. You’ll find it here,

If you’re a Libran woman (or love one), or have Venus in Libra you might want to read this. Again, you’ll find it here.

Doing it for yourself…

We all have Libra somewhere in our chart, and it’s this part of life that Venus will be bestowing her presence on. It’s this part of life that you’ll find pleasure in. Whatever and wherever Libra means for you, look for the enjoyment in it.

I have to admit to struggling a little (personally) with Libran energy. I suspect that it’s because I don’t have any planets in Libra. Indeed, I don’t have any planets in Air signs. I’m also quite introverted by nature and all too often don’t want to be social. Nor do I want to make an effort with my appearance – although goodness knows it wouldn’t hurt me to put a face on every now and again, or wear shoes rather than flip flops. And a little balance would be nice, I suppose…

Anyways, in my chart, while in Libra, Venus will be transiting the 8th house. I’m yet to do my taxes – that will definitely be happening before October 31.

If you have your chart already, look for the symbol for Venus, now find Libra on your chart. This post will help you do that.

If you don’t have your chart, read this post on how to get one.

  • If your Sun or Ascendant is in Aquarius, Venus will be transiting your 9th house.
  • If your Sun or Ascendant is in Pisces, Venus will be transiting your 8th house.
  • If your Sun of Ascendant is in Aries, Venus will be transiting your 7th house.
  • If your Sun or Ascendant is in Taurus, Venus will be transiting your 6th house.
  • If your Sun or Ascendant is in Gemini, Venus will be transiting your 5th house.
  • If your Sun or Ascendant is in Cancer, Venus will be transiting your 4th house.
  • If your Sun or Ascendant is in Leo, Venus will be transiting your 3rd house.
  • If your Sun or Ascendant is in Virgo, Venus will be transiting your 2nd house.

Venus will be in Libra until 7/11/17.

Venus in Virgo

Venus is about to move into Virgo- a sign she’s not particularly comfortable in. Venus in Virgo is in what traditional astrologers term the sign of her fall (remember back to this Toolbox?). This doesn’t mean that Venus is weak in Virgo, it means that she is in a position where she can’t use her strength, in a place which is alien to her. She has no essential dignity in Virgo.

Venus in Virgo often can’t appreciate just how beautiful she really is – or how perfect she is just as she is.

Venus loves pleasure – and the things and activities that bring us pleasure or that we find pleasure in. What she doesn’t like is too much hard work, conflict, sacrifice, deprivation, efficiency and details. Venus likes to be served, not be the servant, yet when she’s in Virgo, she’s called upon to be more, shall we say, useful and practical. This is not a bad thing – indeed, there is pleasure to be found in Virgo rituals.

Anyways, if you want to know more about Venus in Virgo, I just happened to have prepared something (much) earlier. You’ll find it here, but as I get more “I’m not like that” mail in response to Virgo posts than any other…except maybe for anything about Capricorn or Taurus (yep, the other earth signs) it comes with the following disclaimers:

  • You might or not be exactly like the textbook – please please please resist the temptation to take it literally
  • Not all Venus in Virgo people like to clean – some give up and go the opposite way…and beat themselves up about it
  • Not all Venus in Virgo people are slim and trim and can wear white (and have it stay white) – some go the opposite way…and beat themselves up about it
  • As with all things astrological, there can be variations according to individual chart composition and placements
  • There are exceptions to every rule
  • This post probably contains some typos – please don’t write and tell me so
  • Remember that much of what I write (especially what I have just written) is written tongue in cheek – I take very little seriously

Having said all of that, if you’re a Virgo woman (or love one), have Venus in Virgo, or Venus in close aspect to Mercury (especially by conjunction or trine) you might want to read this. Again, you’ll find it here.

Doing it for yourself…

We all have Virgo somewhere in our chart, and it’s this part of life that Venus will be bestowing her presence on. It’s this part of life that you’ll find pleasure in- yes, even when Venus is in Virgo.

The thing is, Venus in Virgo pleasures are relatively simple- no huge gestures are required here- and can be found in everyday life and tasks.

Think about the rituals associated with your Virgo house. If Virgo falls in the 4th, it could be time to spring-clean or declutter. If Virgo is your 1st house, maybe the spring-cleaning and decluttering needs to happen with your attitude.

Whatever and wherever Virgo means for you though, rather than resent the task at hand, look for the enjoyment in it.

In my chart, while in Virgo, Venus will be transiting the 7th house. This is my annual reminder to show (rather than tell) my husband how much he – and our relationship – means to me. It’s also a reminder to me not to be too critical. With Virgo on the cusp of my 7th, I can sometimes look for things that are wrong when everything is actually pretty ok. With Pluto right on my descendant, I’ll then obsess over tiny things, and with my Sun opposite all, I’ll usually then take it personally. Hmmmm.

If you have your chart already, look for the symbol for Venus, now find Virgo on your chart. This post will help you do that.

If you don’t have your chart, read this post on how to get one.

If you don’t know what the houses mean, check out series 1 of the Toolbox or this post.

  • If your Sun or Ascendant is in Cancer, Venus will be transiting your 3rd house.
  • If your Sun or Ascendant is in Leo, Venus will be transiting your 2nd house.

Venus will be in Virgo until 14/10/17.

Venus in Gemini

One I prepared much earlier…

Last Sunday I found myself in the rare position of having absolutely nowhere that I had to be and nothing that I had to do. Sure, there were places and things that I should have been at or should have done, but I decided instead to take a “whatever” attitude and get over the guilt. Instead, I got the ironing up to date and watched Absolutely Fabulous and Sex and the City.

I have never quite been able to decide whether Carrie in Sex and the City is Gemini or Libra. She is definitely the Air element in the show – and her love of designer clothes certainly points to Libra – but her absolute passion for words, flirtatious nature, and her eclectic taste certainly points more to Gemini. Venus in Gemini likes to put together things that don’t match, but somehow work… actually, that’s Aquarius too – the things that don’t match bit…

Anyway, there is this episode of SATC in Season 4 where Carrie is sleeping with Ray, a jazz musician with whom she is having mind-blowing sex but hoping to turn it into a relationship. Ray is totally scatty, spontaneous, and young – possible the quintessential Gemini?  Carrie, though, feels the mental connection is missing between them and she ends the relationship when it becomes obvious that Ray has “stopped playing her and moved onto another instrument”. Walking home from what she calls ADD (Another Dating Disaster) she ponders why they call it mind-blowing sex – perhaps that level of physical connection obliterates the chance of an intellectual one? “Great sex is great, but I still like the song of a melody I can sing to”, she laments.

When Venus is in Gemini the mental connection will always be more important than the physical or the emotional or the practical. As Carrie says- “What kind of a relationship could I have with a guy I couldn’t even talk to?”  Venus in Aries (where actions speak louder than words) could manage this – possibly even revel in it – but Venus for Gemini it would be a deal-breaker.

Venus is where we find pleasure, what we like doing and who we like doing it with. When she is in the Air signs (such as Gemini), she is social, communicative, butterfly light, and immersed in the mental –ideas, theories, logic, connections – rather than the emotional realm of the water signs, the physical of the earth signs, or the movement of the fire signs. When Venus is in Gemini words will make you feel good – settling down to read a book is therapeutic, but meeting your friends to talk about it is even more so.

Gemini is mutable and needs variety and flexibility. If you have Venus in Gemini, you will like to browse, like to flirt and like to chat… a lot… with lots of different people about lots of different things. You may spend more energy on the idea or concept of a relationship than on love itself.

Venus in Gemini also has a reputation of being fickle. Beating the boredom is why Venus in Gemini may be able to juggle more than one partner or potential partner quite effectively. The inconstancy is also due to her search for the theoretical ideal relationship. When what looks good on paper proves quickly to not be so great in reality Venus in Gemini will move on. When your idea of a perfect relationship can change quicker than the weather changes in Melbourne, the mind (and the heart) can wander just as quickly. And before you write to me, that doesn’t mean Venus in Gemini is more likely to cheat than any other sign – just that their attention span can be, well, fluid.

A man with Venus in Gemini will be looking for a partner that has these Gemini qualities- youthful energy, busy-ness, flexibility and highly social. He wants someone with a quick wit that he can talk to and engage with on a mental as well as a physical level.

So, how do you keep Venus in Gemini coming back for more? The trick is to keep things interesting, keep them guessing, keep them curious and keep the communication flowing. Gemini.

Don’t have Venus in Gemini, but think this sounds like you? If you’re a Gemini woman, or have Venus in conjunction or easy aspect to Mercury, you’ll have some or many of these traits. If, however, you have Saturn aspecting your Gemini Venus, you may have difficulty in expressing them…just saying…

In my chart, Venus in Gemini is transiting the 4th  house. I’m on the search for the perfect piece of art to hang behind our lounge. I have my eye on a photograph, but can’t quite decide whether I want something more coastal. The search, though, means a bit more exploration.

Venus will be in Gemini until 1 August

Venus in Taurus

So anyways, Venus moves into Taurus today.

Venus is about the things that make us feel good, and Taurus is all about the senses. Being an earth sign, it’s also about the pleasure that security, abundance and wealth can bring. We’re not just talking about financial wealth here- although, obviously, that’s a large part of it. It’s also the wealth and abundance of nature- the beauty that’s all around us.

It’s about taking the time to appreciate that. It’s about slowing down to smell the roses. It’s about savouring tastes and fragrances and textures. It’s about stopping to listen to a beautiful piece of music, to gaze at art, to take the time to prepare a beautiful meal. It’s about the beauty in nature.

When it comes to love, it’s a little like a Kylie Minogue song- taking it slow, like chocolate and reading body language. It’s about taking your time, and wining and dining your partner. It’s walks in the outdoors, it’s thoughtfully prepared picnics, it’s the power of touch.

Obviously there’s more- much more…but I’ve said it before…here.

Doing it for yourself…

We all have Taurus somewhere in our chart, and it’s this part of life that Venus will be bestowing her presence on. It’s this part of life that you’ll find pleasure in. It’s this area of life that you might want to take your time in.

In my chart, Venus in Taurus is transiting the 3rd house. I’ll be taking pleasure in getting to know my “neighbourhood”, in the ritual of my routines, in little things like talking to the people that I see every day.

If you don’t have your chart, read this post on how to get one.

Venus in Pisces…again

Venus in Pisces

Moon in Cancer

Venus still has another 12 days or so of the retrograde to go, but today she dips her toes back into sweeter waters i.e. Pisces.

If you missed it last time, here’s a little reminder of what la vie en rose is like…

Venus Retrograde

Venus will soon be retrograde.

Of course, this doesn’t mean that the planet is moving backwards, just that it appears to be doing so from our perspective.

My Aries hairdresser asked me about it the other day:

‘My stars in the magazine said that I shouldn’t change my appearance drastically in March. Does that mean that I can’t have a haircut?’

‘It depends on whether we’re talking a maintenance haircut or a Helen cut everything off and dye it a million new colours haircut.’

‘Well, I was thinking of something like that.’

‘Yeah, nah…probably not a good idea.’

In case you have a similar set of questions, I posted this survival guide earlier in the year.

If you want to know where it’s happening in your chart, you’ll find those details in this post.

The dates and degrees…

4/3/17 stations retrograde 13 Aries 9′

14/4/17 stations direct 26 Pisces 57′
