Daily Planets Friday 10/12/10: On the Aquarius Moon and Power to the People

As I write this the Moon has just moved into free thinking Aquarius.
Aquarius is one of those really misunderstood signs. Those who are born under it are often described as free thinking, eccentric, individual, inventive, yet Aquarius is a fixed sign, so how does all of this follow? Further, whilst the modern ruler of Aquarius is Uranus- he of the lightning bolt who gives a damn about how things have always been done I want to do it this way- the traditional ruler of Aquarius is Saturn. Yep, hardworking, boundary loving, structure building Saturn.
The truth is, Aquarius does like to think ahead of his times, he does like to go outside the square and he does like to invent stuff and participate in the whole starting a revolution thing. But he also doesn’t like to change his mind, can be intolerant of the views of others (if they don’t match his) and at his heart knows that the best way within which to effect social change is through groups and structures- which is why you see Aquarius in lobby groups, protest groups, community groups. Tomorrow’s protest for humanitarian reasons and the right to freedom of speech and freedom of the press is right up Aquarius’ alley. In fact if I was to write up a list of things to do under the Aquarian Moon, participate in a protest march would probably be up the top of the list, as would travel to an exotic country, explore a new culture and sit on a platform at the top of a tree playing a flute.
Mercury is still hooked up with Pluto so communication right now is Intense with a capital I. Thirty years on from John Lennon’s death and Power to the People is still as relevant as it ever was…although with Mars exalted in Capricorn and about to joing forces with power hungry Pluto, the power of Government and Big Business is likely to be stronger at present. Pity few of them know how to use that power wisely…ooops did that come out loud?????
I spent today getting some travel plans out of the way before Mercury turns around. I booked airline tickets to Bali and our accommodation. I am yet to decide on return flights and am wondering if there may be something slightly Freudian about that
. The problem is one of flight scheduling. On the days that my preferred airline flies directly back to Sydney, my friend can’t get directly back to Perth and vice versa. So, my decision is:
- do I check out the same day as her & do the indirect thing via Brisbane (eeeuw I hate the terminal shuttle juggle there)
- check out the same day as her & come via Perth & then Sydney (an element of eeeeuw but at least I will have company for one leg of the trip)
- stay an extra night & fly back direct
I did consult the Magic 8 ball (which doesn’t have a great record on footy tipping) & got a different answer each time I asked the question, so I am yet to do anything about it…
Mindful of the fact that this retrograde is in Capricorn and that Capricorn rules governments and by definition public service departments, I also did the passport renewal thing today as well… and trust me the photo is BAD.
Speaking of Mercury, he is stationery pretty well now and will be officially retrograde by 10pm tomorrow night Sydney time…more on that after I get dinner in the oven…which is, incidentally, Baked Lemongrass & Chilli Chicken with a green salad and rice (for those in the Tracey household not presently carb challenged).
