A Cosmo at saks 5th Avenue, NYC

As I write this I am sipping on a martini prepared for me by my dear hubby- possibly because I have been working my sizeable backside off all weekend, possibly because I gave in & let him buy the large screen plasma that he has been wanting or possibly because he just wanted to make me a martini. Either way it tastes just great.

Five Foot nothing has just gone trick or treating. She looks very devilish in the red hooded cape I originally made for a red riding hood costume & some cool little devil horns and she has had the lecture about how Halloween is really Samhain (Blessed Be) and an important day in the pagan calendar. She listened carefully, rolled her eyes and said “yep, whatever…”.

For those who have been reading my blogs over the last few days, the arrival of the warmth & humidity has also meant the arrival of the 1st of the ant infestations in the pantry. I figured this was the Universe’s way of telling me that I needed to bring the pantry up the de-cluttering list. And so it is done. The biggest problem I have noticed about de-cluttering, though, is that there is only a finite amount of space in the council bins. I have been creative regarding recycling, but now have a stockpile of stuff that I reckon will take a few weeks to throw and another stockpile that I need to list on ebay. Hubby, for all his martini making prowess is crap when it comes to throwing out & cleaning up…but, he makes a bloody good martini, so all is forgiven!

On the Blogs

This martini is goooooood…. Lots and lots on the blogs. Rather than listing everything over the last couple of weeks, go for a cruise. Lots of cool pics to brighten the site a tad & lots of posts about Scorpio…and doesn’t everyone want to read about Scorpio!

So, to summarise the Scorpio posts:

Private Investigations/ Digging Up the Dirt- Mercury in Scorpio

Revenge is Sweeter Than You Ever Were- Mars in Scorpio

Jealousy? Venus in Scorpio

Ghosts of Relationships Past- Venus in Scorpio Rx (and, as an aside, I broke my own rule today and went out to buy Five Foot Nothing some devil horns for $2.50 and ended up with 2 TVs!)

The Power & The Passion- Scorpio

Can You Handle the Truth?- Scorpio at Work

I still have to do something on the Scorpio Boss (which I sort of have some conflicts of interest over, but will get over pretty quickly) and Scorpio under stress for Your Career & the Cosmos.

Its not all about Scorpio though, Mars has recently moved into action stations in Sagittarius…and that makes him Larger than Life (yep, I know it’s an embarrassingly old Backstreet Boys song that is still the best PUMP class abs track like eva dude:)).

What’s Happening Up There?

Aside from the race that stops a nation (the Melbourne Cup) on Tuesday, we have a New Moon in Scorpio this week and Neptune goes direct also later this week. More on that as we get closer.

No posts on Monday- I am off blogs and social networking for 24 hrs to support Autism Awareness. Also, I have signed up for NaNoWriMo again this year- that is Novel writing month. In one month I will write a pretty crappy 50000 word 1st draft. I have half a story, a couple of characters and a working title…so with the assistance of more martinis like this one, I reckon I have the makings of a pretty ordinary airport chick lit possibly semi thriller with a bit of hot stuff thrown in novel.

Off to examine the ironing basket, check out this new big screen & see if I can possibly con hubby into making another of these excellent martinis…maybe with some olives this time…

Until next time

Jo

Daily Planets Monday 1/11/10

dreamstime_11419919

I have spent the last couple of days trying to rid my kitchen of ants. On the upside, the pantry is super clean, so perhaps it was the Universes’ way of getting me to de-clutter that part of the house next. My tupperware shelf is orderly (I’m thinking Five Foot Nothing must stand at the door and throw items in there), every surface has been cleaned & organised….but the ants are still there. Heavy sigh.

Tomorrow the novel writing month starts. I have a loose-ish plot, some loose-ish characters and 50,000 words to play with over the next 30 days, so apologies in advance for fewer posts than usual. Just a reminder that I won’t be posting at all tomorrow in support of Autism awareness.

In the skies? The Moon moves into hard working Virgo at 1.51pm Monday (Sydney time). If you have numbers or fine detail work that you need to cast a critical eye over, leave it until then, if possible…the results will be much better.

In the meantime, the Moon has her monthly opposition to Neptune. Sure it’s hard to see clearly in any Neptune contact, but with the opposition, the Moon in Leo may tend to exaggerate any perceived personal image problems. This is one time where even the hardest of hearts have more sensitivity, so choose your words carefully. For those prone to feelings of inferiority and guilt (special call out to Pisces & Virgo on the guilt thing) lie down until the feeling passes. It is all to easy at this time of the month to seek escape instead.

Over the next few days the Virgo Moon will form supportive links to Venus, Pluto, Mercury and the Sun. The next few days are great to get stuff done…so lock the things that need to be completed into your diary.

On Tuesday Australia pretty well comes to a standstill for a horse race. At 3pm on the 1st Tuesday in November the Melbourne Cup is run. A long race at 3200m (2 miles in non metric scales), this is also a rich race made richer by all the “mug punters” who have their once a year gamble. Who’s my money on? I haven’t a clue yet…one thing is for sure, my few dollars will probably be more than it can carry!

Until then…

Daily Planets Sunday 31/10/10 Samhain

Notice I didn’t call it Halloween? My daughter rolls her eyes when I do say that…in fact, many in the Southern hemisphere reverse the pagan festivals and would therefore celebrate Beltane on 31/10/10. Whatever. Call it what you will, Samhain in the Northern hemisphere is an important day in the pagan calendar. It is said to be the day where the veils between the worlds are thin enough to let souls pass through. I described this to Five Foot Nothing the other night as like that scene in Harry Potter when Sirius Black is killed and the veils envelop him. It is also important for more practical reasons as traditionally it was a time of year where food would be stored away for the winter.

Astrologically speaking there isn’t much to keep me hugely interested in the sky at present. Mars in Sag has me looking at more long range plans and dreams than fiddly little here & now details. Besides, I still have ants to go and yell at (thanks for the tip Natalie!).

So, keeping it short & sweet: the Moon is in Leo and by tomorrow morning will square off against Mercury. Probably a good idea not to over dramatise what needs to be said, as with Mercury in Scorpio what is said will be remembered. Venus and the Sun are separating from their love fest, but Venus is within a couple of days of aspecting Pluto, making the love goddess even more Scorpionic than what she is now.

Other than that, I have pantry shelves to clean out and ants to swear at and a seafood extravaganza (OK, some Leo dramatic license taken there) to prepare, so with that, I shall exit stage right, hop on my well used broomstick and choof off!

Daily Planets Saturday 30/10/10 Ant Music

I have ants marching up and down my kitchen. It is one of my least favourite things about Sydney summers (along with red back spiders & humidity).

My kitchen benches are as clean as they can possibly be due to repeated cleaning to get rid of the FLIPPING ANTS. Now, they are in the pantry, which is sort of like a walk in thing. So that means that I have to take everything out & throw out anything that is open and do the whole Tupperware thing. Not the best way to end the week. No matter.

OK, onto the astro.

Tommorow morning the Moon moves into Leo (about 10.30ish am Sydney time). Before she does that she will form supportive links with Jupiter and Uranus. Not a bad evening here in Sydney for pizza and red wine in front of the telly. We’re making our own tonight on lebanese bread (to keep the calories down) & I have in some lovely fresh goats cheese, basil and a chilli seasoned prosciutto. Yum.

Its diva alert tomorrow as the Moon in Leo squares off against Venus and the Sun. The Moon in Leo is dramatic but oh so generous and a square with Venus can only mean one thing- pleasure, luxury and possibly a little over indulgence? We are doing a thing for my husbands birthday (which was earlier in the week) and I am working towards platters of antipasta followed by seafood- some grilled on the BBQ, some fresh prawns and oysters…all washed down with bubbles and beer. How Leo/Venus is that?

How cool is this pic of the Lion I found? This is partly for the Leo Moon and partly for my Scorpio Dad whose birthday it is today- Happy Birthday Dad from the cubs. Anyway, I am off to de-ant my pantry and coat every possible surface with a wipe of peppermint oil…if anyone has any other herbal ideas, I would love to hear them!

Larger Than Life: Mars in Sagittarius

Friday, October 29th, 2010

dreamstime_2244009

There’s this astro joke about what each sun sign would say after a one night stand. For Sagittarius this would be something like:

Let’s do it bungy style next time…

Sagittarius is a fire sign, so burns hot. A mutable sign, he sparks quickly. Ruled by Jupiter, he is honest, expansive and optimistic. Mars in Sagittarius is all these things. But above all, he is larger than life.

Mars in Sagittarius attacks every part of life with enthusiasm, optimism and faith. Life is there to be consumed impulsively, energetically, tactlessly and with an insatiable appetite. Honesty, ideals, big dreams and adventure and fun turns him on. Dishonesty, business as usual and spin turns him off. He asserts himself in all these ways, absolutely confident that he will land on his feet. His temper, although quick can also be laughable- at least for his audience.

He doesn’t understand subtlety, really can’t be bothered with manipulation or diplomacy, and doesn’t have the time to wait around and guess what is really wrong with you when you say “fine”. The day is young, the sun is up and there are way too many things to do or try or jump off.

He is excited by movement and adventure. If he wants you, you will know about it. He doesn’t do games and is very blunt about sex, which really is just another activity- albeit more fun than most…and sometimes with enough risk to keep Mars in Sag interested. He isn’t really interested in romance…“How about it?” is more his style. He won’t be offended if you say no- his attitude is the one you miss out on is the one you never get. Naturally, as Mars in Sag gets a little older, he does develop a little more finesse…apparently.

Mars in Sag will be motivated by travel- both physically and virtually- and any activity which expands his mind. He is a keen student and gets off on self improvement and exploration. A bored or listless Mars in Sag has no drive or initiative & is very sad indeed. It is his view of a bright future that keeps him inspired.

For all his tactlessness, Mars in Sagittarius has very firm moral and ethical standards. He is unable to deal with or tolerate spin on things he does not believe in. And he doesn’t care who he upsets by it. If you ask him if your bum looks fat in those jeans, be prepared for the truth- not because he thinks he can help you, but because you asked an honest question and therefore deserve an honest answer. Either way, he doesn’t have time to hang around and wait for the fallout. Mars in Sag does not abide by the golden dinner party rules of don’t talk about politics, religion and sex…in fact, these are 3 of his favourite topics!

A woman with Mars in Sagittarius will be attracted to a man with Sag values- high moral values, someone who wants to improve himself, someone with a vision. If he can also teach her something, (whether that be spiritually, morally or otherwise) that would be even more attractive. Physically speaking, he will probably also have good legs and bum!  He might even enjoy bungy sex- but then again… whats life without a little risk?
