Daily Planets Friday 1/10/10- Mac Cheese and Cravings

Thursday, September 30th, 2010

I am having a major craving for macaroni cheese. I have a mac cheese recipe for every craving:

  • Cheffy mac for when I want something a little special
  • Soufflé mac for when I have bits of leftover cheeses in the fridge
  • Pumpkin mac for when I want a healthy (ish) mac
  • Cauliflower mac for when I want veggies with my mac
  • Mums mac for some tomato soup comfort mac and
  • Plain mac for when you absolutely have to have it…with chips and bacon bits on top.

Of course, I am not having mac cheese tonight, I can’t afford the calories- it is steak and mushrooms with salad tonight. The Moon is moving into Cancer by around 11.45pm (Sydney time), so perhaps I won’t be the only one craving over the next few days.

The Cancer Moon is also characterized by a strange urge to bake- I’m thinking a slooooooow roasted greek style lamb shoulder for tomorrow night…maybe get the neighbours in- either way tomorrow night will be a good one to stay close to home.

By 4.30am ish tomorrow morning, the Moon will do her monthly face off against Pluto…probably a good thing to be sleeping through. This adds an additional layer of depth and intensity to what is already a Scorpionic feel to the air.

In a busy planetary day, we also have the Sun/Saturn conjunction and the Moons square to this aspect (see my previous post in relation to this). By the evening, the Moon will link up with Mars and Venus who are now within a degree and a half from each other. This is a lovely indulgent yet also moody aspect- perhaps the right alignment to cook that mac cheese? Might do an extra stint at the gym in case!

Daily Planets 1/10/10- Pt 1 Sun/Saturn Conjunction and the Things Grown Ups Say.

Thursday, September 30th, 2010

Remember last time you felt really really good? It may have been a plan coming together or a great idea or the anticipation of something you had really been looking forward to. Perhaps you have fallen in love with someone you know you shouldn’t have. Whatever it is, you were feeling great.

And then a grown up comes along and ruins it, saying things like: “have you thought this through?” or “you need to be responsible about this” or “after you finish work/homework/cleaning the bathroom” or “shouldn’t you have invited so and so?”.

But then I have Saturn in Aries & see this little maturity check as being a rainstorm on my parade.

Maybe the grown up was right. Maybe what you thought was ruined was simply slowed down…for your own good and the good of your goal. Maybe you hadn’t thought something through or asked the right people to help.

Saturn is in Libra where he is super strong. This Saturn understands that hard work and collaboration with others will get you results. On the other hand, the Sun is not at all strong in Libra where individual ego comes second to the needs of the partnership.

When Saturn meets the Sun by transit in a natal chart it can be a gloomy heavy thing- all business, or it can indicate a reward for hard work that has been done before.

This conjunction happens just a few hours after the Moon moves into Cancer and is square the Moon by 1.20pm tomorrow (Sydney time). Yes there are challenges, and yes, fears need to be faced, but the current planetary weather forecast is one whereby if we take a responsible and grown up attitude to goals and are prepared to put in the hard yards, and engage the right people to assist us, we might just get there…but we can’t do any of it alone… Sometimes we have to be our own grown up- no matter how boring that may sound.

Daily Planets Thursday 30/9/10 Yoga & Bad Moods Don’t Mix

Wednesday, September 29th, 2010

What is it about Wednesday nights and last minute hunter gathering? Yes, I go to yoga, but that is no reason why the Universe needs to conspire to ensure that I get my moneys worth out of the class by making sure that I arrive in the maximum level of bad mood &, with Venus in Aries, it does not take a lot to get me there quickly.

I left work late, but in a reasonable mood. Then I hit traffic, then I have to double back to Camp Grandma with a spare pair of trackie daks for Five Foot Nothing due to an unexpected cold front. Then I have to hunter gather due to Scorpio hubby being in an extended teleconf. Seriously if a decision can’t be made in 30 minutes on a call there are too many Librans in the room…and my husbands’ Libra Mercury and Venus don’t help there. Every teleconference should have at least one Aries in it in order to keep it moving “I’m hearing blah blah blah here fellas, lets move it along.” Maybe along with the minutes from the previous meeting we should take a roll call of zodiac signs and Mercury signs… But then again, I guess that would mean we wouldn’t get all sides of the discussion and would possibly rush into things. And really, what else can I expect from a Gemini Moon but lots of talkie.

Anyway, planets for tomorrow… the big news for the next few days is the Sun/Saturn conjunction which is exact on Friday morning (Sydney time)…but more on that tomorrow.

In the meantime, we have a couple of interesting squares from the Gemini Moon- one across to Mercury and then later some tension between Jupiter/Uranus and the Moon. Normally I would give the advice to think before speaking and acting & be careful not to over indulge. But I have already failed on the 1st (oooops) & the Moon/Neptune trine should be sufficient to convince me that regardless of the over reaction I just sprayed at hubby (which he probably didn’t deserve, but given that he doesn’t read these I can remain right for longer) really was not an over reaction. Moon/Neptune trines are perfect opportunities to convince yourself as to your relative rightness.

So, now I am hungry, cranky & have to be at yoga relaxed and zen like in approximately 15 minutes….did I mention the really bad mood? Until tomorrow…

Daily Planets 29/9/10- Step Away From the Fridge

Tuesday, September 28th, 2010

The Moon has just moved into Gemini, so we can all stop eating and escaping and start moving and talking.

My mood today has been muddy, to say the least and I have felt particularly “bull-ish” today- both in terms of grace (or lack thereof) and sheer feet planted firmly in the mud stubborn-ness. I have spent the day opening the fridge and firmly closing it again, swallowing tea instead of crap and doing just a tad of the wallowing thing.

By early tomorrow morning, Sydney time, the Moon will be in easy aspect to the Sun and Saturn over in fellow Air sign Libra. Head, heart and goals are all nicely aligned, so make the most of it.

For now, I intend to use the sociability of tonights Gemini Moon and catch up with a girlfriend for a decent chat over a thai curry and a wine.

Change Management, Flying Goats and the Zodiac

Chagall pic- check out the flying goat

Chagall pic- check out the flying goat

One of the best things about social networking is the people we come into contact with that we otherwise would never have known.

Yesterday I came across a post by an Aussie change and communications expert, Jennifer Frahm, that was well worth reading.  Her post Team Building By the Zodiac posits the question how we actually formulate our teams? Do we use Myer-Briggs, some other personality profiling or even the zodiac?

I have long thought that profiling tools can be manipulated to read how you want them to read, whereas the zodiac is an objective tool that tells much about our change profile.

My third favourite scene in Notting Hill is one in which the lead characters discuss a Chagall painting. Julia Roberts’ character saw love in the painting, whilst Hugh Grants’ character saw a flying goat- or what love would look like if it was a goat flying through the air. So it is with change. One persons’ goat is someone else’s potential windfall. If each of us has perfectly legitimate and different reactions, why is it not OK to be change resistant?

For more on the Zodiac and change, check out these post I have written for astrology.com.
